I've been coming here for almost two years and I feel its about time I left a review. So I normally come and dine solo because I live nearby and the pricing on the food is reasonable compared to ordering in.
The owner has red hair and she is great. Very nice and hospitable. But the team is all over the place. There's not one server designated per table, they all seem to flow and sometimes look lost or forget things.
If you come by yourself or with one additional person the service won't be great. If you come in a group so 3+ people it will be a little better for you as far as the attention of the staff. You can call in advance and reserve a table for a party. I've seen that happen. You can also order to pick up too.
Wait times vary depending on the time of day and day. So sometimes I've waited about 30 min to be seated and sometimes I haven't had to wait. That's not really on them it's a popular spot and the food is great. Once seated the time for ordering your food varies. Also the wait time for your meal. Sometimes I've sat and got my food in an hour sometimes 40 min wait. They normally bring me one little bread right before but asking for a second bread is a mission. You probably won't get a second bread round. The total amount of dining time can range between 1.5-2.5 hrs.
Seating arrangements you can either sit outside or inside. Inside you have the option of booth or table.
Gratuity is included whether you dine in or out. It's about 15.2%. I sometimes give more if the service is better that day. The taxes are 9%. Also, the tipping is pooled. So even if you want to tip your server something it'll get split even if it's cash.
I think there is room to improve is just the service. For the team to be more attentive and not to wait to be called on. To anticipate the guest more. If a person goes alone or in a pair, it should be the same level of...
Read moreIt all started with cravings for Pan con Chicharrón and ended with two very satiated bellies. Surprisingly, in a city of so many great Peruvian restaurants, not a lot of them offer pan con chicharrón, a classic Peruvian breakfast.
Walking into the restaurant I was immediately transported to Paracas in my mind, a sleepy little fishing and tourist town on the southern coast of Peru. Something about the decor and the relaxed yet festive vibe took me there instantly.
They were very busy on a Sunday morning but seated us right away at one of the only available tables left. We ordered a “Desayuno Lurin” which is basically a “build your own” pan con chicharrón plate served with a tamal and then we ordered a standalone pan con chicharrón. We figured we’d split the tamal and both have a sandwich.
The waitress very kindly suggested we start with just the desayuno Lurin as it was quite large. Don’t you love when the wait staff are looking out for you more than their own check size? I do, and as a result she got a much bigger tip. Plus, she was right - it was huge! But aside from the size it was absolutely delectable.
Perfectly crispy pork that didn’t have too much fat, nice soft sweet potato, perfectly made sarsa criollo, and fresh baguette. And the tamal was absolutely perfect with succulent bits of chicken inside.
Omg we were in heaven and, by the end of it, stuffed! But we still made room for a lucuma tres leches, which I had never tried before, but ever the fan of tres leches I had no choice.
12/10 highly...
Read moreI have to change my 5star rating for multiple reasons but the one that made me do it was the recent decision of is skyrocketing their prices it's a shame that they treat their old customers like their business is no longer worth it ,as a matter of fact they are making more money than they used to and they're sending a clear message to all customers that their business is no longer welcome. What it's more frustrating is that they didn't raise two or one dollar they raise their menu up to $3 what I used to cost you $13 now will cost you $17 and add to the fact that they are not making their quality better or the quantity of the plates bigger they're actually went ahead and made each portion smaller as clear as I can can be here I will no longer support this business because evidently we can see what they're doing with their success. For the price I can think at least seven restaurants that are way better than this establishment I'm sorry for being a little rude but you have to speak the truth stop being greedy and maintain your ethics. Also having mine that going to the restaurant it's another experience the waiters and staff are extremely slow and the worst thing is that they charge you 18% tip for a bad service . Sometimes multiple waiters assist you without communicating each other and later on when they bring you the bill they will put items that you didn't even order once I went with my whole family and they brought me a bill for $170 for an actual bill that should...
