This is the first review I’ve ever written in my life. I went to this salon about a month ago. The woman who answered the phone got me in super last minute and was extremely sweet on the phone and I felt blessed. She told me she was the manager and normally doesn’t do hair anymore but squeezed me in. I gave her specific formulas that my hairstylist in NJ perfected after years of doing my hair and she was happy to use the same formulas. I asked for a root touch up with blonde balayage. The shades matched what I’m used to getting, but she only left the root color on for a few seconds so I could still see grey hairs, but being busy with work, I just let it go for the time being. A couple weeks later once I had time, I called and asked if I could come in so she could look at it. They told me she no longer worked at the salon but told me to come in and they would fix it free of charge. When I arrived, another stylist consulted with me and I expressed my concerns of having too thick of a dark root because I like the root much darker than the blonde. She told me she couldn’t use the formulas I provided because they were toners and not hair colors. I was about to just leave because I was so nervous, but I felt rushed into the service. I noticed her using a brush with water to bleed the root color into the bleach she already washed out, and it was starting to look very dark. She reassured me that I would leave blonder than when I came in so I trusted the process. Once she blew out my hair, I felt like I was going to cry and couldn’t wait to leave. The technique used wasn’t bad at all, but the colors used completely wash out my complexion and I left with something completely different than what I asked for. I didn’t have to pay for this second service but I’m so upset about the entire experience and have shed many tears over the amount of money and time spent on something I dislike so much. I thought maybe it would grow on me and it’s a week later and I can barely look in the mirror because the color looks so awful on me and I feel so ugly. Just a big waste of over $400. The first girl, (“the manager”), also talked poorly about the way the owners ran the salon the whole time and complained about the music they played and how outdated they were. I laughed it off at the time, but it was very unprofessional, as they seem like sweet women. I learned my lesson to do more research...
Read moreClean, average salon, nothing fancy but the location is convenient. I made a same day appointment for a cut and color, but was told there wouldn’t be a blow out which I’m fine with. I have curly hair and I should have left when the stylist started using words like “huge undertaking.” She seemed uncomfortable working with curly or textured hair and I should called it then. I got all over color and I wanted full highlights. The stylist said that wouldn’t be doable but she could put some around the front and top. I do not recommend getting a cut here if you have curls, she cut it straight across and now that I’ve blown it out my self, it’s very visibly uneven. I’m going to have to get another cut. I’m not sure if the stylist was rushed because the salon had closed, but no, the cut/trim whatever was just bad. I truly wish she just hadn’t. Again, the stylist could not have been nicer but I wish she had told me before we started that she was simply not capable of working on curls/textured hair. In the end, I walked out with wet unstyled hair and a uneven cut, but I want to emphasize that I was pleased with the color. $365 after 10% discount for being a new customer. I’m not one to leave many reviews, and I never leave them when I’m upset, but it’s been two days and I’m still outraged. As a person that’s gotten hair color for over 16+ years, I understand it can run several hundred dollars as you incorporate more processes, but $400+ for what I got is absurd. I will not be making this my regular salon, but if you’re in a bind for last minute root touch up and don’t mind paying a high premium, this is your spot. Especially if you have...

After deciding to spend the money on myself (which involved a lot of internal back and forth) I called around to salons in my area. I needed a last minute blow out due to an interview. I am usually skeptical of new places and technicians, especially after having my precious hair burnt to bits. I have a lot (and I mean A LOT) of hair! There's no way to describe the overwhelming anxiety caused by sitting in an unfamiliar chair, at the mercy of an unfamiliar stylist. I called a few salons and they were not able to accommodate my need for an appointment that day, let alone one for an hour out. After calling into Salon Dahlia before opening time, Ruth gave me a call back promptly! I advised her of my situation and she fit me into her schedule! THANK GOD! Still skeptical, I showed up to my appointment an hour later. The moment I walked into the salon, It was like I had taken a Xanax! I instantly felt like I was going to be well taken care of, And I was. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Ruth took great care of me from my shampoo, through to the end result! I have never... ever left a salon feeling so confident, and pleased with how my blowout turned out. She was even able to hide this weird mullet layer I had going on. Prices are super competitive too!!! I will definitely be going back to Ruth! I know I sound like an employee review, I swear I've never been to this place before today....
