Being from out of town, the store was not hard to find. Just a short distance east of Easton. Easy parking in a free parking garage right there. We had hoped for a larger selection of dresses and they did have that. That’s about where the positive ends. It was very cramped. You can barely walk through the different rags without paying extreme attention to not step on one of the gowns trailing on the floor. There is only one floor length mirror at the end of the dressing rooms, and one “stage area” with multiple mirrors where you can see the back of the gown. While we were there, about three other girls were trying on dresses so we had to keep waiting to use the stage area. There was no room for parents, the dressing room area is too narrow for more than about two moms to help out unless they are actually in the dressing room with their daughter. The dressing rooms are small, only have a rack to hang the gowns, no hooks for your jacket, purse or clothing, no chair, no mirror. There is nowhere to sit down in the entire store.
All the girls working there seemed very young, prom age themselves. They were nice and helped with zipping & lacing the dresses up & pinned them with clips if too large. They offered compliments, but there wasn’t really any consultation or other help in finding your dress.
They offer a good selection of dresses, most are size 2, 4 or 6 depending on brand but seem to all fit about the same on high school girls wearing size S, possibly needing some alterations here or there which will increase the price quite a bit. They do have a seamstress who lives nearby they recommend. A few dresses are larger sizes like 12-14. Most seem to be priced right around $500, a couple cost less and some cost more. They can’t and won’t order the same dress in a different color or size for you.
What really irritated me and prompted this review was that they charge $5 for a bag for the dress to customers who are spending $500 & more. No room for negotiation. This is unheard of in our area and while DD found her dress there, it was the last time we shopped at Be Social. I hope the Columbus area has better alternatives with a similar selection but genuine consultation and customer service that includes a bag...
Read moreThis place is the worse!!! If anyone is having issuses, called the BBB and file a complaint with the Ohio Attoney General which i plan on doing today. Timeline: We purchased a dress on March 9th prior to Covid-19 pandemic. The dress was for my daughters promo and cost a little over $700 .The associate in the store said we would receive a call within days to pick up the dress because the dress needed to be serviced due to broken strap, this was untrue because we have not received any form of communication at all that week or weeks following. I called asnd asked for an update on March 10th, twice on March 12th , March 19th, March 23rd, 27th, 9 times on 28th April 6th and 10th. Initially, we just wanted the dress but now we are asking for our money to be returned. I've called several times, spoke to someone who said they would have a manger call me back but never did. We did not receive a call in over a month which was from your daughter yesterday on April 7th. My daughter saw a post on Instragram indicating that the store would be open on Saturdays during a certain time frame. We arrived at the store on a Sat at 11am, however; there was a sign on the door stating they were closed and not open, however; the Instagram account stated something completely different. At this point, we are beyond frustrated by this company for their lack of courteous and lack of accurate communicate.
This company has not been very respectful during this time. Even though we are all going thru this the best we can, you are still expected to hold up some sort of values and professionalism as you are a business that wants to keep up your reputation. We know a lot of people and have a lot of Instagram followers, I do not want to talk down or negative about Be Social but if I’m going to be ignored and not treated as a value coaster, then I should be able to share our truth and our experience with you all. I was told that someone would call me back, they continue to mislead us to believe they are willing to resolve this matter but they continue to not honor their word. I am going to post my experience with the hopes of them not treating people this way in...
Read moreThe staff is rude, condescending and dishonest. We found a dress but the dress has a stain on it. After they implied that we damaged the dress (we did not) they said that if we wanted the dress, we would have to buy it and then they would see if the stain would come out. I told them we are not going to buy a damaged dress and hope it’s fixable but if they fixed the dress we would buy it. The sales girl then sent an older, surly lady (may be the owner) to speak with us. She was rude and said if we didn’t want the dress because of the stain, someone else would buy it. Finally after a very uncomfortable back and forth they agree to send the dress to be cleaned.
We went back to look at the dress after it had been cleaned and the spot was not very noticeable so we decided to buy the dresss. While ringing up the sale the salesperson went to the back twice and spoke with the manager. I was surprised at the total and the salesperson said it was higher due to the tax. That didn’t sound right and when they handed the receipt to me I saw what happened. They had added $30 to the price of the dress, presumable to cover the cleaning!!! This was dishonest and is a good example of the outright contempt they have for customers. Adding $30 without saying a word about it to the customer to clean a dress they had damaged is criminal. I didn’t want to make a scene in front of my daughter so I left the store.
I would strongly recommend avoiding this store at all cost. They are rude, dishonest and I can’t believe the will be in business much longer with this approach. Any dress in the store can also be bought online. If you have to go to the store you can simply try on a dress for size and then order it online from another company with good...
