This is perhaps the worst escape room I've ever done. You're in a room with just a handful of items. Nothing else. No secret anything. Your job is basically to unlock locks and find a few easily hidden items. The problem comes when you get stuck. We did. No big deal. They'll give you a clue. Well, the clue we were given when we couldn't figure out one lock was "just try everything in the room that might work as the combination". That's the type of "puzzle solving" they have you do. There was no hint to direct you to the right idea. You just start guessing and trying things written on the walls. Seriously? I like to think and solve problems. Another one required combining a word and some numbers. There was zero to indicate that was necessary which was acknowledged by one employee. Getting stuck because you missed something (which did happen) is fun and shows you details you miss. Getting stuck because you were just supposed to start guessing and not solving a puzzle is lame.
The entire experience was rushed. We arrived early and had a large party which wad a problem because the tablet was being used by another group so we couldn't sign in. They repeat over and over that you need to hurry and that you only get a specific amount of time. We understand that, but if you don't have the equipment to get things done quickly then you might want to remedy that.
Of the ten of us that did the escape rooms that day (they aren't escape rooms. They're puzzle solving games), not a single one thought it was worth revisiting and several members of my party suggested I should...
Read moreThe puzzles in the room that we had were almost entirely the same thing….padlocks. There were 15+ padlocks in the room. Our host claimed we could press a button on the door for a hint if we were stuck. We pressed the button 6 total times as we got stuck around the 25 minute mark (we tried multiple times across a 5 minute period), nothing happened and we never got past the part we were stuck on until the time ran out. Being stuck on the same thing for 25 minutes because you can’t use a hint is the opposite of fun. My partner and I were getting frustrated and eventually just gave up and waited for the time to run out to leave. Host finally came back and claimed that the button was broken and that they didn’t realize it. That’s one thing, but they literally didn’t check on us once until then? We were not offered a refund, not offered additional time, and as a whole had a very terrible experience. Just a “oh sorry this hasn’t happened before!” I’m of the opinion that because it was a malfunction on the businesses part that we should have at least been given a voucher to try again where things work, extra time, or a refund, or literally SOMETHING. I’ve been to escape rooms that are far better, do NOT come here. Don’t let the 4.9 review fool you. A complete waste of $60 and ruined our mood...
Read moreThe worst escape room I have ever experienced.
Staff was fine, but the build quality and puzzle quality is reflective of people who do not actually care about the escape room experience.
In short: escape rooms are actually four cardboard/foam walls. There are few (if any) props to interact with – almost everything is just on pieces of paper to read.
They should not be charging the amount of money they are, when every other escape room I have ever been in (10 different places) offer far more atmosphere, puzzle quality, item/object quality, air conditioning, sound design (this one had no sound effects), and light effects (this one had no light effects).
To really hammer it in: A escape room called “Sherlock’s library” HAD NO BOOKS TO ACTUALLY INTERACT WITH. The wall was just wallpapered with low quality image of non-period-accurate books.
Thank you for the worst but most memorable experience I have ever had. If you enter this escape room, please ask for a refund immediately. My condolences.
