I have been bringing my dog Willa to the Millburn PetSmart for years and have always had good experiences until today. I had a 9:15 a.m. grooming appointment with Odalys T. I arrived on time and was standing right in front of the store when I received an urgent call from my kids’ day camp asking me to submit a time sensitive form. I stayed just outside the door to take care of it quickly on my phone, only steps from the entrance, and walked in by 9:27 a.m.
When I got to the grooming counter, no one was there. I waited several minutes, then stepped outside to ask a manager if someone was available. He confirmed the groomer was inside and told me to wait a few more minutes. I continued waiting until 9:48 a.m. with no one checking in on me or offering any update.
Finally, I knocked lightly on the grooming salon door to signal that I was still waiting and needed help. The groomer came out yelling, saying I was late and that they had already told me to wait, which was not true. When I calmly explained that I had been there the entire time, she became more aggressive, nearly cursing at me and stopping herself mid sentence from saying the F word. Then she snapped, saying “Since you are so impatient, take your dog back.”
I was shocked and in tears. I asked for a manager, who simply canceled my appointment and offered to reschedule. There was no apology and no accountability. I asked for a refund for the rest of my grooming services and was ignored.
This was one of the most unprofessional and upsetting customer service experiences I have ever had. I have trusted this location with my pet for years, but after this treatment, I no longer feel...

The reason this millburn location has so many appointments open is because they overbook their groomers so your dog does not get immediately serviced they have to wait. I was told it could be 4hours before picking my dog up.
The issue here is when I picked my dog up she was complete DEHYDRATED! She was having labored breathing with a raspy choking sound! You can only imagine how horrified I was to be excited to see my freshly groomed baby and have her looking so anxious and upset and struggling to breathe. They had her for 3hrs and seems to not have given her any water. It was 90 degrees , I have no idea how hot it was where they keep the dogs waiting. But no water?! And if you don’t check on anxious dogs and leave them there they can seriously hurt themselves.
But I can only imagine since they were so busy they just leave your dog however.
I was not told of any issues before coming to pick her up. The groomer didn’t even notice her struggling to breathe. Like really?!? Open your eyes!
Do not take your dogs here! If you love and care for them go somewhere else! They also do not have a banefield attached so I had to rush her to another vet to get her checked out.

The conditions of cats were awful. The small hallway and cages were so dirty. Cats were lacking of brushing and clean environment. The cats stands and scratchers were so filthy and dirty and old and tourned. I was almost crying for conditions of this animal. The company so big and selling all equipment for cats it won’t provide descent conditions for these animals. The feeding bowls were so old and dirty. The old lady was in charge in section. She had no ideas were she is. I’m asking animal activists to pay attention to this location. The floor so dirty and she said cats clean their self. I said I know that I have two beautiful cats but they can not clean the room or floor. I don’t think patsmart can not afford to provide better conditions for these lovely animals.
