There is a manager here named Chris. He was tremendous help. My Dog broke TV on Saturday night around 10:30pm and at 11:30pm same night I was able to get a new one because he went above and beyond to help me out. I had people coming over next morning and I am blessed to be in position to get a new TV in such a random manor but instead of telling me excuses like Walmart did he actually had went to the back of store himself (I Heard him moving things around obviously working hard to get to the TV I wanted) he came out with the device we paid for it and he put it on wheels and carefully wheeled it out for me waited while I pulled up then he helped me put it all the way into my SUV stand up guy he didn’t have to do all that and he definitely deserves recognition he puts passion into your company I can tell he was stocking shelves and running operations at same time when I had come to ask for help instead of putting it off he decided to lead by example excellent customer service. Thank you Chris!

I had a cake made for my daughters first birthday party. Shannon made my cake and I know she can do better than what she did. I was highly disappointed in the cake when I saw it. I don't understand why the borders are so sloppy and blurred together the way she did it. Then the edible pictures she put on it is all wrinkle and horrible placed. If I would've known this cake was going to be so horrible I would've ordered it from somewhere else. I didn't pay 27.99 for the cake to look like this. She needs to find a different job if this is what she's doing to everyones cake. I know how the cakes are supposed to be made and this is not it. I'm highly disappointed. I did get my money back for the cake being made this way but something needs to be done because I can't get that day back for my baby's first birthday.

It's a good store, prices are competitive for the area. Cashiers are chronically understaffed. I've never seen more than a third of the lanes occupied with staff. Self checkout lanes are faster, but are limited to 20 items and are still packed if the store is even marginally busy. Before the store renovated this summer, there were larger self checkouts with a conveyor belt and a higher item limit. They got rid of these, which was not a good idea and the extra space isn't utilized properly regardless. Edit: Here's a photo of it on a (Friday I think) night. An extreme case, but it illustrates how bad the cashier problem is. One cashier lane open, only one set of 6 self checkouts working. Line to said self checkouts when the store is pretty empty.

(Still the) Best combination of price, quality and service in town. Yes, the deli and checkout lanes will be insane if you go at peak times (whichever store you choose). Smile, be friendly, and cope like an adult.

BTW, navigating the store while being respectful of others isn't hard. It's a LOT like driving, and everything would work SO much better if everyone would just "drive" themselves or their group through the store. Watch out for other people. Make room. Don't hog aisle or other shared spaces (e.g., parking your cart right in the middle of the lane, and then standing between it and the shelves which MIGHT leave room for one cart to pass on only one side of the aisle [if there are no obstructions or random carts left behind from stocking tasks]).

I know you finally got him to promise to help with groceries, but do us all a favor and leave your useless husband at home (I'm a man, guys, and I said what I said...prove me wrong); he's just taking up more aisle space as you two insist on trying to walk two abreast (or him lagging behind, offset, clueless, and totally oblivious of everyone else). Leave your BeBe kids at home too (if you can). Make an effort; folks are quite pleasant if others can see you make an effort.

No, checkout staff aren't trained like they are at Martins (update: Martin's doesn't train like that anymore either). No, management won't spring into action when lanes are three-deep and longer. These are the tradeoffs for price competitiveness. MPerks can help you save a little bit more (without struggling with paper ads, coupons, etc.) Relax and stream some Pandora/Spotify/Netflix/whatever over their free WiFi (please, use earbuds or headset or smthg); you'll get through the lines, and everything will be ok...I promise.

Produce is very good. They have legit ethnic sections (including Kosher foods). Selection, in general, is good (even in non-food areas...I mostly grocery shop here). Return and other store policies are reasonable (although I have not tested their limits; I don't extreme coupon or return a lot of clothing).

They stock legit salon-only hair products (because they have a salon in their HQ location). Their Meijer brand canned dog food is very high quality. Their store brand products are generally quite good (and a few are better than popular brands).

They recently changed almost all their policy on items priced like "$3 for two items". That used to mean $1.50 for one. Now, fine print almost always ends that price description with "when you buy two" (in the above example). I get it, but it's a shame; that was one of their very few market differentiators.

The parking lot is getting kind of rugged with serious sagging under front tires in many of the parking spots, but I've noticed they are beginning to repair these. People have begun to park like jerks, taking hashed off areas and handicapped parking loading zones. I don't see the store doing anything about it. Update: Both those parking issues have been adequately, if not...

6-16-24. The following update should have been added to the bottom of this review with my other updates! Still boycotting strong!

11-11-23 I began this rant during Covid 3+ years ago and I am beginning to weaken. Those were the days my friends LOL when we could shop 24/7, the shelves were usually full with our favorite items! I still haven’t gone to Meijer to shop, but it’s hard when you can’t find what you are looking for and you think, I bet I could get it at Meijer. Pray that I can get thru Xmas , then I should feel strong again about my boycott!

I haven’t been to this store in over a year. I’m boycotting! My last visit I went after 8pm. I was ill, but nothing catchy, just blood is bad, and I was wearing my mask. By 11pm, I couldn’t fit anything else in my cart. ($350 worth) I try to go when it’s not as busy, & they close at midnight. So, I didn’t wait till the last minute to check out. (I used to be a restaurant manager & hated it when people would come in right before close!) They had 3 girls & a couple managers & not 1 lane was open. The lady(?) who always works nights (short dark hair) told me that I had to ring up all my own groceries at one of those ā€œDIYā€ spots. OMG!!! I said ā€œI guess Iā€˜ll need another cart.ā€ She was right next to them, & she told me to come over and get one! I was shocked, literally! Thinking back, I wish I had JUST WALKED OUT! I don’t know how I did it. I had to go sit in my car to get enough energy to put my groceries in my car. I HAVE NOT GONE BACK & I won’t go back!!! You lost a $$$ spending great customer. Phew, I’be been wanting to say this for a long time!

Sincerely, Tired of your shucking fit!!! FYI Grape Rd Store

10-14-2021 *JUST AN UPDATE! I’M STILL BOYCOTTING MEIJER! LMAO *

Just another update! It is 7-26-2023 and I am STILL BOYCOTTING MEIJER!!! YIPPEE! WHO NEEDS 'EM!

Update 6-16-24. I have STILL NOT BEEN BACK TO BE...

Used to be a great place to shop now not so much. Never in stock of the items I purchased, cashier's don't know how to properly bag groceries (in all fairness though, I don't think any of the stores teach them how to do this anymore). They just recently stopped accepting my health insurance so I'll no longer be using the pharmacy. My most recent trip (today) as I was standing at the lottery kiosk a gentleman walked in and the door greeter had a small, empty shopping cart in front of her; the guy asked her if he could have the cart and her response was "No. I'm using this one but you can go over there and get one" as she pointed to the corral of carts. I'm sorry but that is completely unacceptable. The greeter was not dependent upon that cart and should have given up the cart and gotten herself a new one. Also, as I was putting money in the lottery kiosk it jammed the money. I asked her if she could call someone over since that's what the error message said on the machine. Her response (I should have known it wasn't going to be friendly or positive) was again, "no. You can go to the service desk and talk to someone there." By this time the machine unclogged but didn't properly register the correct amount of money. I didn't want to leave the machine with my money in it so I had my 12 year old stay with the machine while I ran down to customer service only to find on my way back the same door greeter ON. A. PHONE! I did let the manager know of the situation when she came over to get my money from the machine. Pure laziness on her part and I will never again shop at this...
