I'm fresh off the euphoric high of proposing to my now fiancee and feel I can accurately describe how amazing it was to work with Connor. If you want the short version, here is the bottom line: With the knowledge and expertise Connor has, plus the jeweler family heritage, you'd be hard pressed to find a more gratifying experience or a better deal than at C.M Buxton. We're customers for life.
The long (and romantic) version goes like this: About two months ago I began the hunt for the perfect ring. The setting, the diamond, the price all had to align just right. After window shopping C.M. Buxton several Saturdays in a row I decided to open the door and take the plunge. What I found upon entering was a welcoming smile and a dazzling array of options. Knowing my then-girlfriend wanted a solitair (I learned that's what a single diamond ring is called, thank you Connor) I made right for that case. Obviously in a jewelry store with quality this high everything looks appealing, and could've potentially been overwhelming. Luckily, this was C.M. Buxton and Connor is an expert at listening to wants and interpreting needs. I explained the desired durability, setting, size, color, metal, and budget and Connor didn't hesitate but a moment before identifying the exact setting I wanted. (It helps that both my fiancee and I already loved that setting, just didn't know it was the same one.) With the setting locked in I moved on to the diamond. I loved what was already set in the display ring but wanted just a little bit more. Connor said he'd do some digging. Not more than a few days later I get a call from Connor saying he'd found something he was pretty sure I'd love. He was right. A few weeks later and about 6 miles into our favorite hike, I pulled out a massive diamond solitaire set in white gold, and asked the girl of my dreams to marry me. She said yes (and a few things I can't repeat here) and now can't stop looking at her finger. We loved our experience at C.M. Buxton and can't wait to pick out the wedding band, which can now be much more extravagant thanks to the incredible deal Connor made for me on the engagement...
Read moreThis is my third time writing a review for CM Buxton because my experiences here just keep getting better and it feels like the past reviews I've left don't quite describe everything I would like them to.
I've been a coin collector for about 5 years now and this is the shop that actually got me into the hobby. I am still actively coming to this shop just like I have for the past 5 years because I haven't had any bad experiences. I've seen only a few negative reviews and most of them honestly seem like the people just didn't really... know what they were talking about... I've not had any problems in 5 years of shopping here...
Kyle is usually the one who is working there when I've come, and he has been extremely helpful and good to do business with.
Recently there was a collection of coins that were in a fire, and Kyle showed me some of the copper coins and such he had in a plastic container with some dish soap to try to get some of the chard parts off. I bought a half ounce silver Canadian coin (that was also in the fire) for $10, which was a little less than spot. That was the first time I ever bought silver for less than melt, so I was surprised by the offer. I bought another coin but when it came time to pay, Kyle didn't quite have exact change, so I ended up looking around for something to buy that was $10 (that was the amount of change) when Kyle said he would sell me the WHOLE collection of the coins that were in the fire (that weren't silver) for $8 and give me $2 back. The FACE value ended up being $33.55 plus 18 copper rounds weighing 22 oz total. I bought 73 coins total for only $8. Of course much of it is fairly hard to sell, given the damage caused by the coins being burnt, but still, that's what I call...
Read moreMy fiance and I went here with the intent of getting two custom rings ordered. First appointment the owner said he could do what my fiance wanted and that we'd get drawings via email within a few days. Months went by, no drawing. Fiance went to the store and the drawing they had for him was nothing like what he wanted and they made the ring. Thankfully they took fault for that. Took way over the amount of time estimated and he didn't keep to his word or contact us to keep us informed. Fiance ended up getting his ring elsewhere and mine came out lovely. Happy with it for sure, just wasn't handled in a p Unprofessional way. Also, the first appointment he said he could give me a loaner ring to wear while they had my engagement ring, the second appointment, when we actually dropped the rings off, he said they don't do that....just odd. After giving me a loaner with some grief about me losing it, they didn't even ask about it when the ring was done. I came to town and dropped it off. No one knows which end is up over there I don't think. BUT my finished ring is beautiful,...
