I totally uphold the stereotype. As a former law enforcement officer please consider this an "Official Endorsement!" Alright, folks, gather 'round, because as a card-carrying, badge-wearing (okay, formerly badge-wearing, but the sentiment remains!) member of the thin blue line, I've had my share of donuts. I've seen 'em all. From the greasy spoon specials to the fancy, artisanal creations that look too good to eat (but you still do). But let me tell you, Vera Donuts? This place isn't just good; it's a public service. From the moment I walked in, I felt right at home. The aroma alone could probably solve a few cold cases – it's that inviting. And the selection? My goodness, it's like every donut dream I've ever had decided to throw a party right there in the display case. I'm talking about glazes that shine brighter than a squad car after a fresh wash, and sprinkles that could make even the toughest officer crack a smile. I went for my classic: a gigantic apple fritter!! Boom boom. And let me tell you, it was perfection. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and just the right amount of sweet. It's the kind of donut that reminds me of why I ultimately got into this line of work in the first place. I also snagged an old fashioned well, you've gotta have backup, right? And it didn't disappoint.
So, to the fine folks at Vera Donuts, I salute you. You're not just making donuts; you're upholding a time-honored tradition and, dare I say, doing your part to keep the peace, one delicious, perfectly crafted ring of joy at a time. I might not be in uniform anymore, but my commitment to excellent donuts is stronger than ever. And for that, Vera Donuts, you've earned yourself a lifelong patron. Keep up the incredible work, and you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be back. Probably sooner rather than later. My sweet tooth has a standing warrant for more of your...
Read moreGreat vegan spot in Missoula with an awesome rock star ambiance! Though the person behind the counter seemed a bit impatient with me (sorry, I'm from out of town, hadn't had my morning coffee, and was super out of it!) and the food wasn't quite I expected. So, some constructive criticism, at the risk of sounding like a complainer: the buffalo chick'n burrito I ordered was wayyyy too greasy to the point of being soggy and dripping with oil (the veggies were sauteed in a pool of oil which is definitely not necessary with vegan cheeze and meat replacement in the mix), the rice was pretty overcooked, and soyrizo is ok for that kind of thing, but i couldn't tell if there was any actual buffalo sauce - it was definitely more of a chili spice thing - and I expected vegan ranch, but alas there was none :( The menu all sounded amazing and the place obviously does well, so I have a feeling it was kind of an exception to the norm, or maybe just some slight tweaks that could be made for it to be even better! Honestly a 2-3 star experience, but I give 4 stars for your business because I just know that's an easy fix and maybe not an every day occurrence.
Edit: Not sure show to respond to your response, but I feel like a total ditz now! Yes, I definitely ordered the Buffalo 666..confirmed, I was super out of if 😂 I guess the hash brown was a little undercooked then, I would have expected potato to be browned and crunchy but genuinely thought I was eating rice. Toning it down on the oil would definitely have made it better. Thanks for responding my review so kindly, I knew y'all would be understanding! Look forward to stopping through there on my next trip...
Read moreStoked to support vegan joints, especially in places like Montana. That being said, I've visited Veera on 2 separate occasions (July 2024 & July 2025) and both visits were less than satisfactory.
Lets start with the good. The food is solid. I had a coconut cream donut that was absolutely delicious. The 2 different burritos I've had were tasty and fulfilling.
The bad. On my first visit, the restaurant was out of the majority of their savory items. Despite this, it somehow took staff 45 minutes to produce one of the two items they could have made at that time. The chorizo burrito was good, but it was very greasy. On my most recent visit, I tried to avoid the prior year's less-than-satisfactory experience by placing my order in advance online. Although my food (sausage burrito) was tasty, when I arrived for pickup I was disappointed to see the 2 basic lattes I'd ordered had not been made. There was a long line that staff didn't appear to managing in the most efficient way. Once I was finally able to flag down a staff member for assistance, my coffee was made, but I wasn't able to leave the restaurant until 20 minutes after my full order should have been ready.
General feedback: make your own plant-based meat substitutes. You're charging $14 for an assembled burrito with few house made ingredients (for example, the sausage, chorizo, and egg substitutes are not house made). That's a little ridiculous. Realize that producing your own vegan "meats" is much easier said than done, but if all you guys do is vegan food you should consider making...
