We paid $1,163 for two nights stay in Missoula, MT during a road trip last week. We pre-booked one night at the beginning of our trip and another for our return trip home (two separate rooms). For this area and for that money we expected a high-end room and experience. Both of the rooms we stayed in had maintenance and other issues. The rooms were clean but we feel we were misled in how much $ the stay was worth. We feel cheated in how much we were charged compared to the value we received. We stayed in other hotels and even rented a whole house in different parts of Montana (Red Lodge, Bozeman, Billings) on this trip for less $ per night that were far superior to this one in terms of value for the customer. We didn't have time to deal with reporting it to the hotel manager during the trip as we were there for one night each way and tired from driving and didn't want the additional hassles.
The first room was supposed to be a river view room. However, we could not view the river since they put us in a room right next to the restaurant patio where people could see into our room if we had the curtains open. So, the curtains stayed closed and our money for the river view was unredeemable in value. Additionally, the first room was missing part of the ceiling (I have a picture) and the patio door was very difficult to open and close. My husband nearly threw out his back trying to close and lock the patio door the one time we tried to view the river from outside. We never tried, again, to use the patio because of this door issue.
The 2nd room was a King suite. It was large and clean but there were maintenance issues here too. Also, the elevator to access the room has paneling peeling off & created a feeling of being in a sub-par property. The maintenance issues in the 2nd room was an installed carpet wrinkle across the middle of the room high enough to presented a trip hazard (not a rug but the carpet that is stapled to the floor) as well as an issue with the shower door where a ton of shower water was leaking all over the floor and creating an uncomfortable experience having to mop it up so that the toilet and sink were usable without mucking through a huge puddle. We were on the non river side which wouldn't be a huge issue except on that side of the hotel the train whistles that go on all night are very loud on that side.
I feel like for $1100+ we should not have these kinds of issues. We feel like we were overcharged $500 for the product...
Read moreMy family (wife and two small children) stayed at the DoubleTree Edgewater the night of September 2, 2023, after we watched the Griz football home opener. If you are attending any on-campus event at the University of Montana there isn’t a hotel closer than the DoubleTree. On the morning of the game we were able to park in the Doubletree parking lot, make the short walk over the footbridge, watch the Griz win, and then walk back across the bridge to check-in right at 4 p.m. Talk about convenience!
Speaking of check-in, another positive about the DoubleTree is the staff. The people at the front desk are extremely friendly and helpful. There is nothing better than when they give you one of the hotel’s famous hot cookies. We also appreciated the nice rooms that looked to be renovated quite recently and the large screen TV.
To be fair, I did have a couple not as favorable items to point out. Our room’s shower was for disabled customers. I think it is wonderful that he DoubleTree is accessible to everyone, but our family would have preferred a regular shower. When you pay more than $340 for one night, you can only hope that you are placed in a room with a nice bathroom that comes complete with a powerful shower that is at least an upgrade from the one you use at home. You know, a shower that you look forward to using? Another minor frustration was that the pool was dirty and the hot tub was flat out filthy. Although I greatly appreciate both amenities, I was hoping the upkeep would be a little better, especially on a hot Saturday on a Griz football weekend.
There is nothing really anyone can do about this but the hotel itself is just a little strange. There are several buildings that make up the hotel campus. It may have been a more low budget motel at one time (just speculating) but for a Hilton property it just seems a little out of place. I would stay at the Missoula DoubleTree again if the nightly rate was much less because although the location and staff were great, it...
Read moreI had very high expectations for this hotel. We arrived at 5pm on the day of our stay and the room was not ready for check in until 7. The front desk staff felt that a voucher for a “free appetizer” at the restaurant at the hotel would be appropriate. Ok fine, sure. Finally get the room after sitting in a vehicle with a pregnant wife, 2 kids and a dog after driving 6hrs to get here, let’s go enjoy a “free” appetizer. At least the room was clean. We get into the room, pregnant wife is hot and ready to relax. Turn the AC down to 65 to cool the room off as it’s 75 inside and 70 outside. Check back a bout an hour later and the room is now 77 degrees. Called down to the front desk and let them know the AC is blowing hot air despite the snowflake symbol and being set to 65. Was informed that the AC units were not even turned on. Was told to turn it off and open a window. Guess what. There’s a storm outside so all the wind and rain can come in but at least the room is cooler. No screen on the window either. Hello black fly that’s buzzing around. This hotel has consistently failed to meet expectations. Will never stay here again, will never recommend the hotel. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. But hey I got a free appetizer out of the deal. Maybe refund the money? Maybe give a discount? Maybe just offer the actual services that are standard at every other hotel. Don’t waste your time. This place...
