Dowd Center Theatre — Attraction in Monroe

Not sure how a 2nd grade class was able to go. The theatre is still not open. When you call the number, the person that answers says 'hello'...I had to ask if it was Dowd theatre. Was told not open, no plans to open anytime soon. City of Monroe has changed opening dates so many times, have gone way over budget on this and still not open. They blame covid, but we've all been back to work and other theatres and venues have been open for quite some time now. Website gives no information. I'm wondering if this is just another wasted tax money project for the city, like the spec commercial buildings they buy, renovate and can never sell or rent. Politics at its best,...

Great performing arts theatre for rent (performances or special events). I only wish the local businesses would stay open on show nights. Performances often start at 7pm and most of the stores are closed by 5pm. Perhaps the theatre could provide the local businesses with a schedule?
