Had the chicken salad today and it was good, but it was just as expensive as the Epic Chop house salads. We used to frequent here a lot, but today we thought we'd give it one more try. I am giving them two stars, because the salad was actually really good. Here is the rest of the story. The prices keep going up. I get it, inflation and all and they have to pay a real chef. I am a retired executive chef. Here is my advice for what it's worth: Have a separate lunch menu with a tighter profit, but then make a wider profit at dinner. Your food is good. But I don't think that a chicken and bacon quesadilla for $14.50 is that good. Anyway, the final straw was this. My co-worker likes to leave cash on the table. So she selected no tip on the machine. Well, they charged her $3.95 for a tip anyway. To me, this is beyond theft of your customers besides the $15.00 sandwiches. So I urge you to look at your receipt or make sure if you leave a tip on the table and you say no tip, the machine doesn't automatically adds it. I do hope you guys make the suggested changes. Going to the Bistro could really make someone go broke quick... Tip included. Oh and by the way, our table was three people. so it wasn't an...
Read moreI’m sitting here at the restaurant right now writing this review because the food is so disappointing. I’m giving 2 stars instead if one because the service is good and it’s a cute little restaurant.
The food is subpar at best. My boyfriend got the steak which is voted best in Monroe for the last couple of years. Which I guess isn’t saying much since this is just Monroe, who were they up against? Quincy’s? Idk who was the judge of that, but it wasn’t a steak aficionado. I could’ve made a better steak at home on the grill. The vegetable of the day is zucchini and it was chopped up into pieces and maybe 2-3 bites. The baked potato was kind of in the small as well.
I got the shrimp stuffed with and crab and it was decent. The green beans definitely looked and tasted like canned green beans, I couldn’t even eat them. I also got a side of penne in Alfredo sauce which was decent tasting but barely warm. The pineapple hard cider is tasty though.
Idk maybe times are hard for restaurants in these economic times. I was just expecting better. Me and my boyfriend will not be...
Read moreI wanted it to be better than it was. I'd heard about Main Street Bistro for a while and it seemed as if it was somewhat upscale (for Monroe). First walking in was a little odd and little direction as to seat yourself or someone will seat you.
I had the Seafood Alfredo and overall it was good, the salmon chucks seemed a little overcooked. My wife got the Crab Stuff Shrimp and was underwhelmed mainly due to the breading on the crab being very soggy from the butter in the bottom of the dish; perhaps putting the butter on the side would be better. The veggie of the day was zucchini and squash, but it came out with only squash. Which the squash was mostly raw and had little to no seasoning (not even salt/pepper).
We also got the Apple Galette dessert, which was very good!
With a limited menu, I would think that the food would've been better. We like going to downtown Monroe since it's closer to us than Waxhaw and Matthews, so we'll likely be back to give it a second chance due to the limited dining options in Monroe. The burger did look good, so may go with...
