Beautiful, restored historic theater. We came for a Cadillac Three concert and the sound system was great. There is attached seating and no open-floor general admission area but people were on their feet most of the show. We were in the front row, on the left, so we could stand and get really close to the stage.
Security is pretty strict. I had an unopened oatmeal cookie from the Jimmy John's down the street that they confiscated from me - SUCH contraband! And they don't serve any alcohol which was fairly amusing at a venue for Cadillac Three - a band that uses the word whiskey or beer in pretty much every song they've written.
Here was my conversation with the sweet little grandma taking tickets. "Hi! Where is your bar?" "Our WHAT?" "Your bar? Where can we get a beer?" "BEER?!?!? We do NOT serve beer here! There is WATER and Coca Cola at the concession stand!" (This was accompanied by a horrified look, as though I grew a second head and both had 666 emblazoned across the top.) All I could do was say "Oh!" and start to giggle. I'm 40 years old. I was a little surprised both by her statement, and her vehement denial of my desire for alcohol.
My husband and I had about 45 minutes before the show, so we stepped out, walked directly across the street to a local bar called Gibby's, each had a couple shots of Crown and went back to the Metropolitan, cookie free and with our thirst whetted.
The band actually jokingly apologized for the lack of a bar. They were like "So, we just gotta say we are sorry...we couldn't believe it when we found out either! Y'all just join us across the street after the show..."
One step ahead of you,...
Read moreFirst of all i wouldn't give one star but had to post, if it was to me i would give it-⭐️⭐️⭐️We have been here 2x and both times there's an older lady with blonde hair part of the theater staff. She is so very rude!!!!! The first time was to see the Lacs and she wouldn't let anyone stand or move which is whatever but she didn't have to be rude, it was the most quiet concert for my son's first time. Then tonight for the Kidd G concert I forgot my insulin in the car and my son went back out to get because I'm a very bad diabetic and she threw a fit. And then I had a water because as embarrassing as it is I'm broke and have to have something to drink at all times and she told me to throw them away and i told her wasn't so she made get rid of them. my son bought these tickets because he wanted to do something for me since I lost my sister 4 months ago, I tried to explain that to her and she started yelling and telling me that I just don't like the word no in front of everyone. I've never been so embarrassed and had to pay for it. I will never be back to this place from now on we will travel as far as we have to so we don't have to deal with her. It's a shame that one person can ruin the whole experience!!!!!! Very...
Read moreBands were exceptional! I would not have ever been able to travel to go see such great performances ! The seating was so much better and comfortable than The Palace in Greensburg , Pa. Thank you ! I was taken back by the two tickets on my handicapped vehicle when we fed the meter and had a handicapped parking spot directly acrossed the street from the Theatre . A better community for the elderly an respect for more parking would be appreciated. The "public enforcement personnel informed me that "we could have gotten a ticket every hour " So, other states never allow handicapped low income ever pay for parking , considering our situation and our disabilities and as a elder an retired . A common courtesy. But not on the beat . Barney Fife was on duty as n abided by that LAW ! The local merchant said if we hadn't properly posted the handicapped placard . It would have been towed ! Out of state an no way home to boot . Hmmm Nice Morgantown ! Really nice ...... I did Enjoy the theatre an the English bands! So fun ! And I do live...
