RUN, don't walk to Von Blaze!
I've held off posting this review for a couple of months simply because when restaurants first open there are typically hiccups along the way. I feel it's unfair to judge too soon, and I like to give them the opportunity to find their "sea legs."
Von Blaze hit the ground running from day one, and they haven't let up.
My husband and I have been to this cute restaurant that's tucked behind High Street in Morgantown several times now, and we've never been disappointed. Actually were always amazed with how the chef elevates every single item on the menu.
The menu is absolutely amazing, but there's another component that sets this place apart from the others. There is such a quiet ease and warmth from the owners, and staff - they'll remember you, stop to chat and sincerely want to know if you're enjoying your meal.
I can best describe it as feeling like you're having an amazing meal at your best friend's house.
The food is so well thought out. Pretty much everything is made in-house, and the smoker is put to great use (the bacon 🤯).
The craft beer options are always perfect, with something to appeal to every taste.
The sandwiches are definitely in their own league - sous vide flank steak with brie cheese, bologna made in-house and smoked, a BLT that will ruin your relationship with any other BLT in the future.
The specials are always just that - special! The worst part about going to Von Blaze is honestly trying to choose what to order.
And, speaking of special - if you're lucky, Noah will be your server.
We love to eat out, and we travel a good bit. He's absolutely one of the best (if not THE best) server we've ever had at any restaurant. We look forward to seeing him every time we visit.
Go to Von Blaze. And prepare to go back...
Read moreI had heard lots of people say how good Von Blaze was and they sure weren't wrong. My wife and I got to go today and everything was so good.
It was a packed house and we were able to get seats at the bar. I think it might have been the best seat in the house as we got to see everything coming out of the kitchen. I have to admit everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing and I got some ideas for what to order next time.
A word of caution to folks the portions for the fries are huge so make sure you're hungry. My wife and I got a side of fries each for our sandwiches and they came out on big plates. We could have easily split one of the sides. There are also larger fry platters that come out on metal trays. For 2 people that tray would be a meal. If you have 3 or 4 people you can split a large fry order.
As for the food it was great. As an appetizer we got the buffalo drummies and they were amazing. The buffalo sauce was tasty but not overly hot. The leftover sauce was great for dipping fries into. I got the special which was a chicken apple and bacon vinaigrette sandwich. The chicken on that sandwich was huge and the breading had great flavor. This was a delicious sandwich and I cannot wait to see the specials on our next visit.
This was a great lunch experience. It was a packed house but why kept clearing tables really quickly so there were no seating issues. I look forward to my next visit as Von Blaze might be my favorite place to eat in...
Read moreI had seen Von Blaze on my commute to work and had looked it up to see it was family owned and pretty hands on/handmade and was stoked to try it. After 4 months of waiting, I finally had the chance to try it and by god, it was goddamn amazing. I felt like an idiot saying it was good as fuck aloud to the server (the best service from a server I’ve ever had, seriously), but it was just that good. The hand cut fries to the hand cured pork belly, which was again the BEST bacon I’ve ever had, just wowed me. My girlfriend and I were almost speechless with every bite. Even when room temperature, the fries were still crunchy. I cannot say enough good about this place. April and Chris should be VERY proud, as this is without a doubt the best food I have had. I cannot wait to try their brunch and the rest of the menu. The brews they have on draft are also great choices, the popular Chestnut Brew’s Halleck is there as well as their new sour, with a selection of bottled ciders, ales and a wine selection if that...
