I recently had the pleasure of visiting River Fair Trade in Morgantown, WV, and it’s truly a gem of a store! Located at 316 High Street in the heart of downtown, this charming boutique offers an incredible array of ethically sourced, fair trade treasures that support artisans from around the world. The moment I walked in, I was captivated by the warm ambiance and the thoughtfully curated selection—handmade jewelry, cozy scarves, unique candles, and delightful home décor pieces, all reflecting a commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship. While everything was tempting, I couldn’t resist picking up a few Divine chocolate bars and a bottle of their perfume—both of which I can’t recommend highly enough! The Divine chocolate is pure bliss, with its rich, velvety flavor that melts in your mouth; it’s no surprise it’s made by a farmer-owned cooperative in Ghana. The perfume, meanwhile, is a lovely, subtle scent that feels both luxurious and unique. The owner, Shannon, is an absolute sweetheart, and her passion for fair trade makes every visit special. We happened to stop in Morgantown to have lunch and explore a bit during a road trip when we happened upon this shop. I love fair trade shops, and this one, although somewhat small, had a great variety of goods, all high quality. I wanted to buy it all! Great selection of eco-friendly & fair trade gifts, clothes, chocolates, and more. The owners were friendly & very helpful, including returning something I left there (whoops). Some of their more innovative stuff: jewelry that's made of mine parts & supports de-mining efforts; belts made of reclaimed innertubes; and convertible wrap skirts from upcycled saris (I got compliments on mine the first time out).
