Service is what it is as far as being seated and what not. It's a very small establishment with as many tables as they can fit comfortably in that space. Your order it seems will be taken when a seat is available and you seat yourself after that and one of the girls will bring your food out when it's ready. Be prepared to use chop sticks although a food may have been available if I'd asked but wanted to use chop sticks myself.
The food service was fantastic as we're the girls and the chefs.
I had the takoyaki/shrimp shumei/shrimp udon it was filling to me. People with a larger appetite may want to order a bigger dish or possibly more food. I've never been to a Japanese place in Japan but I'm lead to believe the portions are not necessarily American sized 🤣
Overall great experience. Price was good. Food was great. Service was great. Place was busy as youd expect for a place only open a few hrs and only a few days a week. I can definately see why they've been open 31 years.
Will definately be back for more food the next...
Read moreVisited here two days ago on April 1st, 2014. I had heard good things about this place, but it still exceeded my expectations!
For reference, the foods I had were the miso soup, takoyaki and yakisoba. They were all so delicious. Not a complaint about one thing. I did embarrass myself a bit, though, by biting into the takoyaki straight away after it was served and ended up burning my mouth, but that was my own fault.
While the restaurant itself is pretty small, it definitely adds a lot of atmosphere. The back where Yama cooks is open, and he was sure to thank us from his cooking station on our way out. He and the lady working were both super friendly and kind!
The only "negative" thing I could probably say is that I wish they accepted credit/debit cards as we don't normally carry cash with us, but at least we knew ahead of time to have some cash on hand when we came in. And, overall, the most important things of the restaurant are the food and service. Both of which were excellent! I can't wait to go back and try...
Read moreProbably the only place in Morgantown to get a real bowl of ramen. Yes, RAMEN! The menu fits on 1 page, single-sided, and really that's all you need from a place that does a few items well! This isn't the new fad ramen place that you see in the big cities, it's actually home-cooked ramen, that you see in down in the country. Their miso ramen actually reminds me of a miso soup that my one of my Japanese instructors made for class (she was from Okinawa). Anyhow, a hole-in-the-wall place. You probably drive by it without knowing daily; it's on the right side of Fayette across the street from the parking lot. The place probably seats a total of 16 people max and CC accepted. Give the place a try if you're a looking for some authentic Japanese...
