Hidden Gem Alert: Enzo Brings Authentic Italian Soul to Morristown
In the heart of Morristown, a culinary treasure has emerged that perfectly captures the dual nature of Italian dining culture. Enzo, at first glance a casual pizzeria, conceals a remarkable secret: beyond the front counter lies an intimate dining room that transforms the experience from quick bite to memorable feast.
The restaurant's split personality works brilliantly. While the bustling front section serves exceptional New York-style pizzas with the option to dine in or take it to go, the hidden dining room in back reveals the soul of a traditional Italian ristorante. Here, in a warm, cozy space that seats just a few dozen lucky diners, Enzo truly shines. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between refined and relaxed – white tablecloths and attentive service paired with the comfortable feeling of dining in someone's well-loved home.
This homey authenticity stems directly from Frank, the manager who treats every guest like a long-lost relative returning for Sunday dinner. His genuine pride in the restaurant is evident in every detail, from the carefully curated wine glasses awaiting your BYOB selection to the way he enthusiastically describes each evening's specials. Under his thoughtful stewardship, Enzo has quickly become one of the area's most sought-after dining destinations.
The food fully delivers on the promise of the atmosphere. While the pizza operation up front excels at the classics, the dining room's menu ventures into more ambitious territory with stellar results. House-made pastas demonstrate both technical skill and soulful execution. Every sauce speaks of hours of patient simmering, and the kitchen shows particular talent with seafood dishes that would be at home in any coastal Italian village.
As word spreads about this distinctive dual-concept restaurant, securing a table in the dining room has become increasingly challenging. Reservations are strongly recommended, particularly for weekend dining. The limited seating ensures an intimate experience but also means that walk-ins often face disappointment.
Enzo represents the best kind of restaurant discovery – a place that exceeds expectations while remaining genuinely welcoming and unpretentious. It's a reminder that some of the finest dining experiences come not from flashy newcomers but from passionate restaurateurs who understand that great Italian food is about heart as much as technique. In a town with no shortage of dining options, Enzo stands out as a true original, worthy of both special occasions and...
Read moreWe live locally and were really excited about going to Enzo's in Motown. As we entered, the manager greeted us enthusiastically, as he seated us. We were feeling very positive. The service seemed very good initially. We shared an order of the clams oreganata and found almost no clams - just mushy, seasoned bread crumbs with maybe a tiny chopped piece of clam with drizzled sauce which was thick and jelled. Okay, so we moved on to the entrees. Both my husband and I ordered different chicken dishes, both included broccoli rabe, which was good. The dishes were ok and eatable; however, the chicken was a bit overcooked. We didn't complain because quite honestly - no one approached us to ask how things were - no one really seemed to care. The noise level was excessive. There was an echo that exacerbated the sounds. The manager gifted some folks limoncello. We were not one of them. He also stopped at tables all around us in a gracious, personable manner. We were not one of them. He never made eye contact with us and was near us constantly. We didn't seem to matter. The server was kind and efficient but definitely overwhelmed. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. I wish it had been a different review, as I really wanted to like this restaurant that replaced the Morristown Deli. I honestly don't understand all of the good reviews, unless they are family & friends. I am very sad to say that we won't be back & in good conscience,...
Read moreIn Oct. 2025, we had the wedding rehearsal dinner for our son and new DIL at Enzos in Morristown for 40 guests and everything was wonderful! A big shout out to Frank B who we met with on our first visit to have lunch and to check out the event space (back dining room, which we had exclusive use of!). Frank B was fantastic to work with, answered my many, many emails (very patiently - LOL!) about the menu/food options, table/seating arrangements, dropping off liquor/champagne flutes, etc. Attention to detail was very important and Frank B and his courteous staff delivered!! Everyone raved about the service and food, the atmosphere was warm/friendly, and accommodations were made seamlessly at the last minute for meals for a few children who attended.
Leftovers from the appetizers (homestyle meatballs, rice balls and penne vodka) served family style were packed up as well as all extra wine/beer, etc. for us to take back. The chocolate layer cake (one of 3 dessert options!) was to die for and huge slices! The day before, our DIL and mother dropped off mini vases with fresh cut flowers as well as printed menu cards which were all set out when we arrived. Frank B also had menu cards made just in case! He thought of everything!
We highly recommend Enzo for any event you may be planning and look forward to returning soon for a delicious meal (and to see Frank B again!). Thank you for making our event SO special...
