This is the coolest little shop in Mount Vernon. I found myself walking by as I was running errands, and something pulled me in. I have wanted a record player for a while now, but didn't want to just go to Best Buy and get whatever the uninspired and underpaid salesperson was gong to sell me to move their day along and meet their quota. I had questions that needed authentic answers. Don't be surprised if you encounter a few cool cats as you browse the well organized selection of records. I don't mean charismatic customers either. I mean literal cats. Hanging out in the G section was an orange critter that I am willing to bet would let you pet it all day if you had the time and focus. It exuded loved, and contributed to the welcoming and inviting atmosphere. You'll also encounter a friendly fellow who I do believe goes by the name "Wedge" who can be seen diligently working to maintain the organization and direct you to your choice in musical tastes. I think Scott is the owner. I know record players require some nuanced knowledge so I wanted to ask some operational questions along with care and maintenance. He was passionate, patient, and very helpful. He gave me a quick run down on some things, asked some hardware compatibility questions, and at no point was pushy. I did not buy a record player today, but will be back in the near future to pick one up, and a receiver that is compatible. One thing he made sure I checked was that my receiver has a "phono" input to ensure compatibility. Unfortunately my current one does not, but I saw a few for sale at the shop so I will grab one of those too. I already know which record player I want. If you want to support your local small business I highly recommend checking this place out. There also appeared to be DVDs, CDS, and other items. Even for the cats and the vibes it is worth a stop. I can not wait until I am Lost In The Groove of some Otis Redding playing from my new (refurbished)...
Read moreThis is by far and away the best record store I have ever shopped at. The owner was amazing, the selection was great, and it is well curated. The pricing was incredibly good, whether it was something rare, common, or somewhere in between the pricing was fantastic. I spent about six hours here, I was immediately greeted when I came in, after I picked out about a dozen LP’s I asked if I could set them at the front counter while I continued to browse. After the owner checked out what I had picked out already he found me and immediately started a dialogue. Once we had chatted and he got to know me and what I was interested in the next four hours were incredible. He allowed me to browse through items that weren’t sorted or priced and when he wasn’t busy with other customers conversed with me while I was digging asking questions and giving recommendations. Many stores I have been to tend to have either a good selection, good service, or competitive pricing but never have I been somewhere that had it all, these guys have knocked it out of the park. This should be a must stop for anyone who is into music on vinyl. I drove here from Tacoma and will be coming back as long as they are in business. Will be back again Tuesday or Wednesday to spend my...
Read moreThere aren't that many stores to buy used physical media anymore. I'm so glad that places like this still exist. They have a pretty good selection of CDs in the Rock genre. Not many from the 80s though which is what I really like to collect. But it's still fun to go there and browse and most times I do find something that I like. They really cater more to people that like vinyl though. They have a massive selection of vinyl and they even have a pretty good selection of cassette tapes. I'm into CDs though so that's why I go there. If you haven't been to this store and you would like to browse some music, it's a great place to go and hang out for a while while looking for that elusive album you've been trying to find. Prices are really good on CDs at least, I didn't pay too much attention to the other...
