Sugar Planet — Attraction in Nags Head

Terrible service. We live in western NC and all my son wanted to do was go here and get some kind of sour spray that he got here last year. On the way out of the store he unwrapped it and the lid broke off with the wrapper. I brought it back to the store and told the sugar kingdom employee what had happened and the employee acted like I was lying, saying"must've been pretty strong to break that by just taking the wrapper off" in a very condescending tone. We went to the shelf to get another one and the box was all nasty but the employee handed me one that was nasty and had stuff floating in it. I asked for my son's money back and the employee said that they don't issue refunds but I had to trade it out for something my kids didn't even want. Meh. Was dragged in here by my 15 yr old niece. It was certainly well lit.(bright beyond daylight, headache enducing overhead lights) Half the store was tourist plastic/clothing and the other candy. At the time I was in there it wasn't crowded, yet there was a family of 3 shopping(all were over the age of 5) and none were wearing masks or seemed to have them or even cared. This was right after NC governor reiterated wearing masks in public places in late Nov 2020. Personally the store just skeeved me out. People just digging into community candy bins, some not wearing masks, one employee for entire huge store. I bought nothing and have no desire to return Covid or not....

It's THE Sugar Kingdom! So, there are so many different candies and sweets to choose from - from gummy, to hard, to chocolate, ice cream, fudge and more. The downside is that the location is severely understaffed and the young lady who was at the register was so deeply miserable that it made the checkout awkward and uncomfortable... there were about 6 people behind me and she seemed to be going deliberately slow... it was a bit strange, but apart from the customer service it's candy world, what more can I say!?
