I rarely order wings, yet I still consider myself a wing snob. This is largely due to many restaurants frying their wings in highly processed vegetable oils which tastes like garbage once you’ve had wings that were fried in real ingredients such as beef tallow or lard. I’m not exactly sure how they did but the wings tasted much cleaner than major fast food companies whose wings are just sopping in oil. I appreciate BRO’s doing it the right way and using real ingredients produced by the way of nature instead of using highly processed man made vegetable oils such as peanut oil or canola oil which taste like garbage and poison our insides. However they did it, the wings were full and didn’t have the artificial greasiness like a lot of fried foods do.
But the five stars comes in because I had an enjoyable banter with the lady at the cash register. She flipped around the iPad for the tip, and I caved and tipped 15% even though I wasn’t really sure what I was tipping for. I completely caved. She caught me off guard as she was so politre. This is very uncharacteristic of me. I was still hungover and wasn’t as sharp as I normally was - otherwise I would have hit 0% and stared at the cashier. How about, companies pay their employees instead of shaking down their customers for $3 - CRAZY TALK!!! right?
HOWEVER, I was relieved to see that this was a small, local enough business and not a mega corp. That made me feel a little better about my 15%. Hopefully BRO’s never sells out, although I’m sure they will and they will start to suck, just like every other food chain that gets absorbed by Big Food. Until then, they are good, and enjoy them while they last because I would bet $ that they get absorbed and lose control over their products. Great wings for now though! I’ll be curious to see who they’re owned by...
Read moreI have always gotten good service from the employees at the Nags Head store; however, the girl at the counter misunderstood and rang me for something that was $ 33 plus dollars. On the board, it said $12.95. l understand the mistake. As stated, the employees that work up front are always nice & deliver good service. The manager came out to correct the mistake, and l asked her how long it would be before l got my return refunded; she said one to two days. I replied that this was really going to hurt me with my checking account as I was strapped for money due to an accident that I had and was unable to work for quite some time. The manager, Diane, said well if you can't afford the food, maybe you shouldn't be eating out! When I asked for a manager, she said she was the manager. I said well, that's scary so I asked for someone above her, and she said she'd give me the number to make a complaint when she found it. This is the worst service I ever got! I have never been spoken to like this in the food or retail industry. I'm in retail. If I told someone that I couldn't afford clothes and I shouldn't be out shopping, I...
Read moreBefore I get to the gritty feedback, the young woman at the register was absolutely wonderful. She had a natural, friendly smile and was super delightful to talk to. She’s the reason I went 2 stars and not 1. Give her a raise.
Our big issue was price and portion size. (Yes, I read the explanation on the other comment like this. My counter is: There are plenty of places on this island that do not have the problem of portion size or price. For example- Country Deli, Poor Richard’s, Jolly Rodger…to name a few. )
My husband ordered 2 french dips with a drink. It was $45. And we were prompted for a tip- you have to stand at a register to order and they don’t bring it to you- text when ready kind of place. Which isn’t a complaint of mine. I like the efficiency of text to pick up. The sandwiches were mid. The waffle fries were over cooked and chewy. Honestly the price is what really gives me the ick. This was a $12 sandwich, $19 is way too much. Think about it, a family of 4 will need at least $100 for lunch here…at the...
