Figured I'd put a review on here since most of them are old. It's pretty nice here. This is the only gym I've been to in Nashville (besides a couple of YMCA's), so that take that for what it's worth. I primarily focus on power-lifting style lifting (mostly barbell and squat rack), though I would hardly call myself a power lifter. They recently got a power rack to add to the squat rack, which is nice. I don't have much experience with the machines, but they seem to get the job done from what I've seen despite looking a little older. Staff is friendly and it's hardly ever that crowded apart from the typical 5pm-6:30pm time slot. There is a decent (maybe 8?) amount of treadmills (only go up to 12MPH), some ellipticals, older looking stationary bikes, one stair-master, and one old concept 2 rower.
I would recommend to the casual lifter, casual gym-goer and body builder types. Definitely would not recommend for anyone looking to get into proper (read: olympic) weightlifting. I would go for 5 stars if they were open later on weekdays and weekends and a few more pieces of equipment (another rower, lifting platform, dumbbells that go...
Read moreVery dirty gym. Water fountains covered in crud, bathrooms stink and dirty, dirt and dust everywhere. Mirrors have crud on them. I’ve never seen one staff member clean while there. They bring their dogs and they’re in the way. They urinate in the outside gym-which all you can smell is old urine. Old ripped and broken equipment. The staff is to be desired, Not that welcoming. Hardly anyone at the front to greet you. I walked in one day and saw a sign at the front desk to remind members to wear deodorant. It wasn’t a polite sign fyi. You can’t clean your own filthy gym but you’re going to humiliate people to wear deodorant?!
They got too comfortable with really being the only space in East. There’s a brand new state of the art gym coming in to East. They should clean up their act and add some equipment and repair what they have, or it’s going...
Read moreGreat!
I ducked in here randomly, while visiting the city on business, and my experience proved quite positive. Gym5 had everything: a full range of good, quality machines and racks, and the necessary compliment of free weights; a whole room of cardio equipment and mats (and punching bags!); extras such as tanning beds and snacks and what-have-you. The floor was clean and comfortable, as was the men's locker room. Also, the attendant who sold me my (reasonably priced) daypass was friendly and available. In the end, it all contributed to my having a good workout, such that I had to come back the next day and do it all over again :D
Big thanks to everyone here, for providing a place for me to lift weights and destress. Keep up...
