Chivanada was a joy, as always. The vibes and customer service was again, on point. I went on a lucid full moon with my wolf… well… because we were hungry, just like that. This food truck’s paint job is bold and red and fun, and the service is as fast as… it very legally and politely drove past me on I65 N recently.
(That happened just a couple days after I ate there. Weird, right?! I love synchronicity.)
This fated, lunar meal I had recently in East Nashville was my favorite trip to Chivanada yet. I made the bold choice, encouraged by the staff, to get a cream soda and the avocado tomato salad to go with my empanada duo. It really brought out the flavors of my meat pies. They are so rich (with Gouda cheese! ! ! . perfectly, satisfyingly greasy.
Normally I get only the empanadas and fried sides and I will never do that again. Next time, I will order everything on the menu and we will feast once more. I give this truck an extra star for setting up outside of The Basement East, because it is the most best venue of its kind in the...

Took one bite of the pollo empanada, so extremely salty that I didn’t take another bite. Took a bite of the shrimp empanada, it was filled to the brim with Gouda cheese with the fried batter of the shrimp mashed up in it. I couldn’t take another bite of it either. I also ordered a water because it was 200 degrees outside and he handed me a water that was even warmer than room temperature that I was charged for. Awesome, couldn’t even drink it. Lastly, after I ordered, he said it would be 5-7 minutes knowing good and well that there were several people in front of me who had been waiting 30 minutes. I understand how long it takes to make fresh food, so don’t lie about it. Overall, I was so disappointed to waste my money and I don’t recommend anyone else waste it on this...

It took another 15-20 for my order to be made. The shrimp empanadas had 2 very small pieces of shrimp per empanada. The chicken was down right gross. To be fair, the lentil empanada wasn’t bad,...
