Pioneer Park is in the foothill town of Nevada City, CA. It’s a beautiful 16 acre park with gorgeous mature trees. There’s a baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, bocce ball court, horseshoe pits, little league field, playground, green lawn space, picnic area, and bandshell. The walkways are paved and ADA. In addition, the public swimming pool and Lodge are located here. The park hosts summer concerts and special events.

The Lodge is a hop skip n jump next door to the pool, playground, and basketball courts. It’s an event building available for rent. It has a kitchen, restrooms, tables, chairs, projector, and seating for 120 for dining. There are picnic area throughout the park as well. The areas have tables, BBQs, and some have electrical hookups. These can be reserved via the parks and recreation website.

There is a creek that runs through the park that’s makes a beautiful trickling sound when the water flow is high. Peaceful vibes. But as in all public spaces, please be cautious and aware of your...

Love Pioneer, been coming for almost 4 decades. Sad to see the state if the park on my latest visit but I hope for brighter days ahead... It was late January, warm and sunny. The park was bustling. The bathrooms near the playground were locked, I believe the lower restrooms were locked as well but didn't walk to confirm the signs matched. The lower ballpark need maintenance, lots of holes in the outfield making it potentially unsafe. There was a huge tree down in the parking lot it was being cut and removed but an even bigger one flattened the fence on the little league field and it's just sitting :/ Spring season is almost here! The field is still snowed over so it will be awhile either way. Playground is in poor shape and the drinking fountain no longer functions...

I dream of a day the old lilypad fountain flows, the fish swim in the bottom and little frogs call it home.

update Fall Ball 2022! Back for more baseball and we couldn't be happier. Nicest Little League Field in town and the best snack...

What a delightful gem of a park! Located in charming Nevada City, I take my schipperke puppy there to run and run and run! The creek that runs through the park is crystal clear and he loves to dive in and swim and take a few little drinks! The trees are towering and it's always a little cooler there with the light breeze in the summer or spring! I was facing surgery this August so I made a point to take my little dog there every single day for months. Sometimes orchestras were practicing or even performing so we had a bonus! Every now and then they are practicing a dance class or having a party and it's fun to be a part of that energy too! New friends have been made, both human and dog! Anxious to recover and take...

This green gift in Nevada City seems to have it all for such a cute town park. Tennis courts, baseball field, swimming pool, mini amphitheater, outdoor stage, and even a bacci court. The playgrounds are shaded by big trees and the bbq grounds are sizeable and rentable for a decent sized party. There was a group of violinist playing while I was there making the scene uber-pastoral. And I hear there’s drop-in soccer on a certain night. I’d say the City of N.C. could upkeep it a bit more — fix the broken tables and bbq grills, remove the graffiti, and weed the baseball diamond, maybe?

Great small town park. Swimming pool, band shell, sports fields, community meeting facility, playground, picnic tables, creek, bocce ball, tennis, new rest rooms, etc. Summer concerts and movie nights are hosted at the band shell. People will often play catch with their off leash dogs on the unused sports fields. Most aren't an issue but the off leash thing has gotten so common that some think it's a dog park letting their dogs run loose. Can become an issue when you're trying to have a picnic at the outdoor "Picnic & Pops" concert.
