The 1856 Speakeasy Suites — Hotel in Nevada City

Loved the location! Simple check in, expect more of an “Airbnb” atmosphere. The room was “clean” but had some interesting artifacts left behind from other guests. Seems like the owners are trying to save some bucks by cleaning these rooms themselves but needs to be professionally after each guest. Found used earplugs by the bed, hair scrunchy, Band-aid wrapper, Bobby-pin, some fixtures falling off walls/doors. Weird stains on the walls…. NOT hotel status by any means. I was in the military so I just sucked it up, but see photos and decide if you want to stay… They pre-warn you about the music from the coffee shop below, LOUD. Downtown Nevada city. Right in the heart of town. It's a beautiful place. Loud cafe downstairs plays annoying music early in the morning on Sunday. They give you earplugs, but there has got to be a better way. No big deal though. Had a bit of trouble with the entry code. Management was very quick to fix it. I would stay again. Weekday rate is 200 weekend is 400. Overpriced but still enjoyed every moment of it. Great bathtub and shower! Great location, comfy bed. Especially for couples. Small balcony to look at the town from. Loved it....

Beautiful and immaculate room tastefully decorated with evident attention to detail , which is carries through to the hallway, seating nooks and stairwell and entry. Safe and secure building with easy app for check-in and access to information on the Speakeasy and surrounding amenities.
