Treats — Restaurant in Nevada City

There are many ice cream spots throughout northern California but few does it right like Treats! I came here about a year ago and tried the ice creams and boy when they say Mint chocolate chip, they ACTUALLY mean mint chocolate chip! They used to have a very small shop in downtown way up in a small alleyway. So small that you used to accidentally hit things with your butt. Now I'm all in favor of hitting things with my butt but not in a store, I like to do that when no one is watching. Anyways that is a tale for another review. Treats moved down to another location which is huge, probably ten times as bigger than their old store! Plenty of place to enjoy ice cream with your friends and family! There are many flavors here and I ordered a couple and taste tested a couple others! Basil- Yes it literally tastes like the plant so for those of you who can't get enough of that basil goodness, this one is for you! Honey vanilla- A old time classic with real honey that gives it a welcomed twist! Jasmine-Yes, it tastes as if you took a jasmine flower and stuffed it into your mouth Mint chocolate chip-Chocolate chip with real tasting mint! It's not that artificial tasting mint but the mint plant taste! Saffron rose Pistachio- This is a delectable that only pistachio lovers will enjoy! It tastes like a rose with real pistachio flavoring! By the way they do have a pistachio only flavor for those of you who would like to take a pass on the saffron rose flavor. Butter pecan- Yes this is the bomb, sweet and savory just like a butter pecan pie!

They have many more flavors including gelato. Although the price is kinda expensive, it is worth it because these flavors are unlike any other flavors that you will find. Not only flavors, but flavors that actually taste like flavors they are supposed to taste like! They also have baked goods ready to grab on the go which includes muffins, peanut butter cookies and a couple other ones! But be aware even if this place is good, you have to be ready for the long lines that somehow appear...

Edited June 2025: They have gluten free ice cream cones!! I have changed my 2 star review to 5 stars, Thank you Treats! I had a delicious split cone with coffee and rose ice cream, and thoroughly enjoyed every luscious lick of deliciousness, ice cream just tastes better on a cone:)

No gluten free ice cream cones, it makes me sad. I absolutely love the ice cream here, it really is the best quality and absolutely delicious, and really want to be able to give 5 stars. The reason for this review is that they don't have any gluten free cone options, and haven't ever, despite me making a request for this every time I go in. I love the ice cream here so much, but for me, part of the sensory enjoyment of a good ice cream is licking it from a cone, and when I come here, I always have to eat the delicious ice cream with a tiny plastic spoon, decreasing the overall pleasure of my experience from 5 stars to only 2. Dear Treats people, if you would just get some gf cones in your shop, I will happily and excitedly change this...

Treats is hands down the best ice cream around. About half the flavors are made in house and the rest are brought in; all are equally delicious. Some of my faves are the housemade mint chip, with such a strong real mint taste, it's divine, light, and SO refreshing on a hot day; butter brickle is so creamy and buttery delicious; coffee tastes like legit coffee and also makes an amazing milkshake 😋; peanut butter cup is rich chocolate ice cream with swirls of peanut butter - one of my very favorite flavor combos. Oh, I could go on, it's all SO good. Bonus, the waffle cones are made fresh in house, are always crispy fresh and so good, and it makes the shop smell divine when you walk in.
