I visited Bes Tea 3 times in the past couple of weeks. Lots of menu to peruse- almost too many choices. On the plus side, the boba consistency was excellent - one of the times, they seemed less sweet, but the chewiness was right on. Also on the plus side - service was fast, store was clean and bright. The pricing was reasonable with an exception that I note below. The negatives - my first time I ordered Toffee milk tea - the flavoring tasted bitter and artificial. Second time I ordered black magic - the chai flavor was weak - tasted watered down - even though I ordered light ice (for which I was charged a surcharge!) third time I ordered the Sugar Daddy - the Assam tea flavor was weak and watery. I haven’t yet decided to avoid Bes Tea as there is not much other choice for Boba in the area, but they need to up their tea concentration for me to keep them as a regular destination. Just a note that I have been in the Bubble Tea business in the past and have visited stores in Boston (Gong Cha is the best), NYC, and Sydney. I used to supply Wellesley College and MIT for years until I sold that part of my business. I relocated to the South Coast a month ago and miss the big...
Read moreHoly cow, Bubble Tea in New Bedford, how good is this? I tasted Bubble Tea in Chinatown in 2001 and nearly fainted. The ooey chewy tapioca pearls at the bottom combined with a delicious milky tea, wow. Fast forward to 2020 when a bubble tea room opened my fav South Coast city. I had to wait until today because they closed as soon as they opened due to, you guessed it, COVID 19. Today, they did a curbside opening and I tasted heaven. I called ahead and ordered two teas, one for my man, a now regular customer and one for moi. I am dairy free so ordered RIDE OR THAI; Premium Thai tea infused with brown sugar and spices topped with brown sugar tapioca pearls with a non dairy base. I asked for low sugar and this was heaven. Seth got his favorite, BLACK MAGIC, a tasty tea infused with black cane sugar & brown sugar tapioca pearls. His was much sweeter and super delish. Call ahead they deliver to the door, no contact, leaving it on the table. Thank GOD they opened again, as I needed a little...
Read moreI Have been dying for something creative, simply delicious and NEW * to come to New Bedford. I can see this shop being a BIG SUCCESS, I have ordered the “Ride or Thai milk tea 4x and I absolutely adore it, HOWEVER! With that being said , The atmosphere is very uncomfortable staff is very “aggressive” at points and it leads me to believe there is some Socail prejudice regarding the type* of people that come in. New Bedford is an crockpot of people all with different financial statuses I feel as though they aren’t taking that into consideration when addressing customers and dealing with a card declining or anything in that nature maybe someone walking in not dressed the neatest.
Regardless I love the tea and macaroons I love the variety I love the uniqueness of it all but the Socail skills of some of the staff needs to be...
