This must be on top of your things to do in New Orleans. Itโs a very new attraction and has not got much exposure looks like but itโs worth a visit (or two)
I imagined it to be just an observatory that provides a birdโs eye view on the city but itโs so much more.
Itโs an high tech interactive exploratorium about the cityโs history with an amazing array of displays that showcases highlights, including the French influence, people, cuisine and music.
There is a variety of touchless exhibits to interact with.
There is an interactive exhibit where you control a ship while it makes its way along the Mississippi River. Kids (and adults) may get frustrated if they crash the ship but itโs still a blast!
Even the elevator ride up the tower is a wonderful experience. The elevator walls are digital screens that display videos about Louisiana while you ride it. Itโs all very cool.
The view from the observatory is decent. The city does not have the most impressive skyline but itโs still a nice view.
Donโt miss this new attraction! Wish we had more time to spare to explore the place in detail. Give yourselves a couple of hours...
ย ย ย Read moreThe entrance is located next to the Four Seasons and is a MUST SEE! It should be your first stop before ALL other attractions! Itโs hard to describe the wonders of this place except to say that it is made up of multiple interactive exhibits that give you an overview of the history of New Orleans (the music, the food, the architecture, voodoo, the melting pot of cultures, which indigenous tribes were here first, and how it got its name) as well as having a 360ยฐ view of New Orleans with screens that point out all of the sights and neighborhoods you might want to visit. The elevator ride is interactive! Even the floor is inlaid with the path of the Mississippi River. The attention to detail is amazing and cannot possibly be put into words. Lots to see and do for adults and kids. Make sure to watch the movie downstairs and the 2 mini movies up on the 33rd floor. And go up to the 34th floor for the open air views! The gift shop gals gave us a fabulous suggestion on where to have dinner that night! (Tujagueโs - pronounced Two Jacks - delish) ALL of the staff are attentive and kind. This will set the tone for your entire...
ย ย ย Read moreMy friend and I decided to do this on a whim on our last day because we were tired of walking and honestly thought what we paid for was going to be nothing more than just an elevator trip up to a high floor for a good view; we were so pleasantly surprised! This unassuming museum was our favorite of the trip! I think this would be the best first stop in New Orleans activity for anyone visiting from elsewhere. It gives an interesting and interactive overview and background of a lot of the New Orleans history, food, floods/port, culture, music, etc. We learned more here than we had our whole trip. The bonus for us was most of the exhibits had seating or places to sit nearby, we were on our last day of our trip and so tired of walking so it was nice to have something to do with low energy. As a tech guru, I was very impressed with the high-tech interactive exhibits and features throughout the museum. My only note was the cafe was a bit underwhelming for food/drink selection and I wish there was seating outside on the observation deck (only seating inside). Overall...
