Genesis — Restaurant in New York

Over the weekend me and my wife ordered food from Genesis, we order oxtail with rice and peas and a curry goat with rice and peas. Surprisingly everything was perfect. My reason for saying this is because I ordered online and usually when you order from platforms such as postmates or uber etc the food is usually a hit or a miss. Let's just say more misses than hits. If I were to have a negative review it would be that my order of curry goat had quite a lot of bone pieces but I belive it is because I ordered right before they were closing.

The following day my wife decided that we enjoyed the food so much and wanted to reorder but we missed their closing time by 9 minutes so instead we ordered from another jamaican restaurant called "The Door", it was definitely the door.....the door you want to walk out of. We ordered two orders of oxtail, rice and peas with steamed cabbage and everything here was bad. I got shredded oxtail with alot of bones. Like seriously oxtail is not a cheap dish. Their rice was mushy and the cabbage, you would swear my wife made it....smh.

So today my wife and daughter decided they wanted to order from this restaurant "The Genesis" again and today we are ordering early. I decided to call the restaurant not to complain but just to make sure there curry goat didn't have a lot of bones.

I was greeted by Ms.Marsha whom answered the phone and was very friendly, helpful and courteous. She listened to my concern which is a plus for me and I would definitely give this restaurant 5 stars not because of a phone call but because the taste and quality of the food. I highly recommend this restaurant and as my fellow Jamaicans would say DI...

I don’t usually write reviews, unless the experience was either down right horrible, or extraordinary. I would judge this experience on the extraordinary side. I travel a lot for business and explore a variety of different eateries from every country and city everywhere I go. I found this spot after briefly talking about food with a Jamaican Gentleman in the elevator. After our 2 minute exchange he quickly recommended this spot. I ordered the boneless jerk chicken with rice and vegetables, and a side of braised oxtail. I had it delivered to my hotel and was pleasantly surprised how generously it was portioned. The chicken was very well seasoned and had the right amount of spice. Spicy enough to where I was just about to start sweating, but not that spicy to burn my face off. The rice was soft, but not mushy like it is at some places where large portions are cooked in advance and kept on the warmer where it then cooks to mush. Although delicious, I am giving it 4 stars because the oxtail was pretty fatty. I had a lot of unpleasant fat and very little meat on it.

The food is good but the portion sizes are terrible for the price you pay. The customer service is THE ABSOLUTE WORST both in person and over the phone. My co-workers and I usually order delivery and the woman that answers the phone is rushed, rude, and unattentive to the customers requests. Delivery takes well over half an hour sometimes an hour. I understand the restaurant may be busy, but thats no reason throw all of your customer service skills out the window. I just placed an order right before writing this review and I literally had to tell the women to slow down and to not try to rush me off the phone! I had 3 orders I was placing and before I could even finish the first one she's telling me how much the order is! I'm like slow your freaking roll, I have 2 more orders to place!!! I told her that as a restaurant, the customer service skills are absolutely terrible. I WILL NOT be ordering...
