I decided that i really wanted to visit the Chelsea market. I had my heart set of going to the Lobster Market. They open at 11am and it was only 9:30am so i had alot of time to kill.
The last time i visited here was pre-pandemic. Alot of construction has finished. Everything looks great. I love how beautifully all the shops and restaurants are set up. Downstairs is also really nice and has the bathrooms, more shops and more food. Its amazing. I do wish there was more maps to show you were each shop is and the map should have one of those "you are here" dots, you know what i mean?. You can get a little lost if your looking for a specific spot. However the fall/Halloween decor they have set up is great. Everything is just beautiful.
I ended up stopping at Sarabeth's first. They open super early and you can sit on the tables outside the shop and eat your food. They do check for vaccination cards. I ordered the ice coffee and chelsea market sandwich which is basically a bacon, egg and cheese on fancy bread. The bread was thick looking but so SOFT, fluffy and chewy inside. I absolutely loved it. It was extremely filling. The eggs were super fluffy. I loved it. The coffee was okayy. I'm glad they offered iced coffee because that's my jam.
After this i went down to wash my hands and face in the bathroom. The bathrooms are really clean. I seen a women down their cleaning consistently. Everytime someone left a stall she went in.
At 11am i walked over to Lobster Place. This place is the absolute best. I wasn't the only one waiting to get in. There was at least 10 people waiting. This place is popular and for good reasons. I sat immediately at the Oyster bar, that's what i went for. They checked my vaccination card and every other person who walked in and sat down. I was able to get my order in really quickly. I first ordered 6 oysters and a diet coke. I got the merasheen bay, coleville bay, eel lake, duxbery gem, orient point pearl and widow's hole. I loved them all. There were two smallers ones that i loved the best. Too bad i didnt know which was which. I would of only ordered more of those. But honestly they were all so good i ended up getting a second order. I ended up eating 12 oysters all by myself.
Overall i really enjoy coming here. Its honestly best to come early. The lunch rush is bananas and can be overwhelming. Also map out where the store/restaurant you want to visit is at. That way you know where to navigate to when you arrive.

Read moreIn a busy and crowded place like Manhattan, to find a place that offers all-in-one with high quality and reasonable prices can be challenging, but Chelsea Market is exactly the kind of place I go to for my weekly treats: a Saturday casual walk (for the eyes), food (for the sensory boosts), and social (for human interactions). Yes, it can be crowded and sometimes even chaotic; but where else in Manhattan you do not experience that?!
I usually walk every Saturday, with my family, all the way from upper east 70s to the High Lines’ 38th blocks on the west side. We head towards downtown, exploring the season’s plants and gardens and smell the breeze from the Hundsun River. By lunchtime, we’d arrive at W 15th/9th Ave (where the Chelsea Market is) for brunch.
The oyster bar within the seafood market is our absolute favorite spot. Here we would do the oyster tasting, religiously, from the smallest to the biggest, the saltiest to the sweetest. We each take tasting notes and study them to vote the day’s best. As a foodie and food critic, this is how I train my own sensory experiences and teach my children to appreciate one of the best our nature offers. Then we move to the next counter to have some freshly made sushi rolls as our middle course. To end the brunch, we move further inside to the lobster counter where we order freshly brewed seafood soup to soothe our hard-worked stomaches. It’s a treat only Manhattan has to offer. I’ve been to the food market in Barcelona, Tokyo, Paris, London and Turkey…. Although they are also good, but nothing is as uniquely American as in Chelsea Market.
After a stuporous meal, it’s time again to walk, to walk off the food coma. Chelsea Market has so much to shop around or just see and explore: spices, artisan cheese, fashion clothes, Asian supermarkets …. The noises around us are an unmistakable proof of how happy people are appreciating good food our life offers and how much they all enjoy the...
