Went here on 11/15 to see Jordy. My besties and I got these tickets months ago and have been planning for this event. We even went on the venues website to make sure coat check was available. Coat check was by cash or card (as shown in my screenshot). We secured VIP tickets w/ the meet and greet package as clearly stated in our email and receipts. A week leading to the event, we got an email stating that the doors open 7:30pm. We arrived there at 7:40pm and showed the guy at the door our tickets. He said meet and greet was at 7pm. We explained that we were only given an email indicating the time the doors open not when the meet and greet started. We were never informed that the Meet and Greet was at a specific time (nothing in our email or spam). He looked at our tickets and said we were GA and couldn't go in yet... but our tickets said VIP 1. We were told to get back in line and wait for the doors to open for GA/non-VIP folks. While on line, my BFF was inquiring on getting a partial refund on the VIP/Meet and Greet tickets since we never got the chance to do the meet and greet. Request was under review. Unfortunately, the supervisor denied it and said all sales were final. Bummer!!! At 8pm we were in and headed to coat check. Upon our surprise, coat check was CASH ONLY. We explained to the guy at coat check that the venues website said cash and card. They made no exception and so we suggested to the coat check guy that the venue update their information on their website. So clearly our night started off rough. It was at the end that made it out whole experience better. I took a photo with one of the Openers Madison Rose. She had asked how our experience was and I explained to her the ordeal we had endured in the beginning. Madison Rose said she was gonna help us out and she spoke with Jordy and his team. They apologized and we got a photo with Jordy along with a poster with...
Read moreNYC has a seemingly endless amount of cool live music venues. I may not get to them all, lol, but the ones I've had the luck to visit, all have this cool vibe; Racket joins the list of great experiences. Headed to the West Village to see my friend Alex Henry Foster and his incredible band the Longshadows; they certainly did not dissappoint on their 1st American tour! (Backstory: Alex and I met online (Instagram) during the pandemic as he saw my reviews of concerts I've seen in the past. At first, the texts were music based, our love of vinyl records and other common interests. As time went on, we developed a very close friendship, and Alex visited me in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, kindly signing his epic triple album for me! Years go by, we keep in touch when we can, and finally have a reunion at Racket! His set was incredibly intense, I had the blessing of meeting his band, his entourage of sound engineers, merch manager and his Mom! Alex carved out some private time for us, and I consider him one of my closest friends! Racket is a typical cool NYC venue, chill vibe, security low key, friendly bartenders, small, intimiate setting with perfect sound. Thanks Alex and everyone, looking forward to next tour, and if you enjoy live music, go...
Read moreSo I've never heard of this place prior to my most recent concert I've come to New York City for. I came here for Attack Attack!. I'd say it's about the same size as Brooklyn Monarch in terms of the performance area and about as cramped as the Kingsland for Everywhere else. Overall, I had a good time, but I'm giving it three stars, because certain things really made me scratch my head. First and foremost, I got a VIP package and almost weren't allowed in because the venue didn't know anything about it attack attack and their representative had to explain there is a VIP package that comes with a ticket and a meet and greet. No, I'm not trying to down on the staff here, but I think something like that should definitely be known ahead of time, especially if it's going to potentially cause issues. If the headliner of a show at your venue is offering a VIP package, you should know about it and not concern people who spent alot of money to be there speaking of a lot of money the prices of refreshments here now I'm not a local. I come down to New York City for shows from Albany maybe that's standard for New York, but for me that's a lot of money to spend on refreshment. All in all its an alright place and if a band I want to see comes here...
