Because I have not sufficiently honed the craft of writing, I cannot adequately express how much I love Bagel Joint. I also don't particularly need to do so, as whether or not I write this review, I will still be able to frequent Bagel Joint and enjoy the transcendent experience of a Bagel Joint bagel. So please understand, dear hypothetical reader, that I write this only on your behalf. I give this review selflessly, on off chance that perhaps because of this review you might at some point find yourself at this shop, enjoying a Bagel Joint bagel, and that you might derive the same joy from the experience that I do. Whether or not you have ever taken the time to appreciate the art of bagelmaking, know that the proprietors of Bagel Joint have. These are proper bagels, done exceptionally well, with no shortcuts taken, with every ingredient and step meticulously chosen and done. The owner really, really cares about great bagels, and you can feel it in every detail of the shop and the product. Their flavors are exceptional, both the bagels themselves and the schmear; they get a little playful and exotic, but never to the point that they feel like a gimmick or that they're compromising on the essential qualities of a damn good bagel. Try the scallion pancake cream cheese on a fresh fig and olive or piri piri: it's life-changing. Freshness brings up an important point, as well, as they constantly bake new batches throughout each day so nothing on the shelf is stale. First batch seems to come out around 8am, with the second I think around 3 hours later, and if you can I would try to time your visit around those times to really get the top-tier experience. While I've visited many times I have yet to venture away from bagel+schmear into bialys, sandwiches, etc, nor had anything to drink other than their (excellent) drip coffee. It's hard to feel like wandering when the core experience is as immaculate. That said, my friends have tried other things and assure me that they are, at least, quite good. All of this to say, you should go to Bagel Joint. Or don't. For my part, a weight is lifted from my shoulders; I am free, that I have done my part to spread the Good Word. And in my freedom, I will likely find myself once again at Bagel Joint, enjoying a perfect bagel.

Novel and innovative bagels and fillings and cream cheeses. A solid fusion of asian and jewish flavors like miso and gochujiang bagels with wasabi cream cheese. High quality ingredients. I would absolutely go here over the other bagel joints in Greenpoint. Please go and see for yourself! Recs: - The miso or duck egg bagel with wasabi cream cheese and tomato - The babkas and rugelach! - The tuna bacon and egg breakfast bagel options! - The baily is solid and flavorful and I think a hidden gem. - Strong coffee! - The seasonal options like mugwort bagels and scallion pancake cream cheese. - the duck egg everything bagel (so savory!) - their classics like the everything bagel and scallion cream cheese You can ask for some raw bagel dough to go and, if you're friendly, they'll agree! I recommend buying the dough, and some cream cheese to go. I got a egg and cheese and tuna floss bagel and I was not disappointed! Would go weekly! Some friendly feedback: - your toppings are so innovative, multicultural, and I think it's the thing that separates you guys from the pack. It's what breakfast in new york is all about! Lean into it more? Stronger flavors? Horchata babka? A mole bagel? Thai iced tea babka? A dosa flour bagel? Sriracha cream cheese or bagel? More specials! A milk bread egg sandwich? I think your wasabi cream cheese is the best because it's so distinctive and flavourful. - I noticed some reviews asked for a larger fluffier bagel or the option to toast or even oven heated. Is that something you guys would ever do?

I came to Bagel Joint feeling pretty hyped given all the buzz around this new bagel shop but left feeling incredibly disappointed. Bagels: My friends and I got four bagel sandwiches on specialty bagels. The size of the bagels were too small and amount of filling too little to justify the cost, and the flavors were on par with ingredients you can buy from the grocery store. Chocolate Egg Cream: The chocolate syrup wasn’t mixed in thoroughly, and the drink ended up tasting like watered down milk. Rugelaches: These were actually pretty tasty and came in a variety of yummy fruit flavors. Atmosphere: The store is cute with a fair amount of seating. However, expect every seat to be filled during the weekend rush. Service: We went around noon on Saturday and had to wait in a long line for ~40 minutes. The workers were friendly but given how busy things were, they forgot part of our order. Overall, there’s a lot of potential but the bagels are simply not good enough for me to return to or recommend this restaurant.

We heard about a new bagel spot that had just opened, so we excitedly made the trek over from Queens to try.

At 11am on Saturday, this place was already packed out the door with a line forming towards the end of the block — must mean it’s good! We waited, eager to get our hands on a bagel sandwich. To our disappointment, the bagels did not live up to the hype, the 45-minute wait, or even the price point.

I figured they’d keep up the churn of fresh new bagels, given the large crowds that’d show up, but upon ordering, we were told that a lot of the bagels were sold out already — bummer. The bagel itself was stale, hard, and dry. For nearly $20, I expected a fresh bagel, but instead was handed a subpar sesame bagel (with very little sesame topping) used for a sloppily made bagel sandwich.

The whole operation seemed chaotic as I could see staff were frantically making sandwiches and, unfortunately, also making mistakes to multiple orders. Presentation-wise, the glass display case of the ingredients was very disorganized. Other things to note for the owners: the half-melted ice bucket should probably be a bit more discreet along with the cold brew that’s stored in the plastic jug.

I understand it’s a brand new storefront and everyone is learning, so I want to give the team a benefit of the doubt. But for the relatively high price point and expectation to deliver quality bagels in NYC, I wanted to see (and...
