The city keeps taking more and more of our outdoor recreation areas away. The park has been drastically reduced to maybe a 2 min. Walk. It's sad. There is small areas with grass the dog run a small out dated park for children an athletic field and a parks bldg. It doesn't support the amount of people in the area that normally use the park. The park is being renovated for flood prevention currently but the process is so slow and causes overwhelming feelings for the community who are forced to utilize such a small space now for the large amount of ppl. The contractors currently took away all parking for the the baseball field and closed the sidewalk in front of it. It doesn't seem like much work is being done here. Just a reduction of outdoor space taken up by construction equipment not being used workers standing around.
Park regularly has Parks Dept Officers who go straight from their govmenent vehicle with food into the parks bldg lock themselves inside and come out when it's time to go.
There has been an increased number unfavorable illegal drug users here. Recently during the day time and...
Read moreThis place is a work site and a park. It's a park that is visited by the general public however, their bathroom service is only made available if when they the workers are on site doing yard work. Isn't that stupidly crazy🙄. Well that's how it was I needed to access the bathroom as a worker on the other side of the park doing work on the premises. I didn't have access for 2 weeks I was there . I had access on January 5 that was the first week in January But none there after. Who cleans a park in one day when it demands pruning trees, and moving debris and trimming edges?- well of course that was not completed. However, I'd see trucks come and park up and people walking in dark uniforms over to the park but the bathroom was still unlocked and the debris and other things were still lying there. This is a common thread among parks both in Brooklyn and other places. I'm a bit surprised though that this kind of negligence is allowed to perpetuate in Manhattan - in a financial district Shame on the...
Read moreBusy for a small park tucked by the East River.
Some ppl are heading to or from the ferry. The park also connects you to the park that runs along the river and connects to the lower piers.
Inside the park is a modest dog park which can separate to small and big w sections or left open as one big park. Sadly the ground is concrete. No shade or water fountain. There are plenty of grass areas. The middle sections say no pets allowed but you see them all the time.
Bathrooms are accessible and are located on the dog park side. The water fountain isn’t working. Maybe it will as the weather gets warmer.
The field and pitcher/batting area slightly below the park are busy with school kids or games on the weekends.
If you’re lucky to be out when it’s not so busy and on a beautiful day, it’s a nice spot to chill.
Events and activities are scheduled...
