How hard can it be to put regular nail polish from root to tip? Well, this salon is not only unhygienic, unclean, in clear violation of health codes, but also they don't even know how to put on simple basic nail polish on.
I went once before and there is clearly a class system between the Korean manicurists and the Latina pedicurists. The Korean women are haughty and have this "I am better than the Latinas" attitude which is evident by the way they treat their workers. The Korean women get their own uniform masks while the Latinas get flimsy masks to wear. You can sense the tension right away as you enter but also the bickering between the two groups proves it further.
My first visit, the pedicure was extremely subpar with no attention to cuticles or massage or scrub. Service was just ok, but what made me cringe is that they use the SAME metal foot file for everyone. They are in CLEAR VIOLATION of health codes LEFT AND RIGHT. I have never seen their tools in any barbicide nor any UV light stations. After viewing this, I ended up telling the woman not to use their foot file. She suggested that the disposable one would be too tough on my skin. Fine, I said. But she didn't make any effort to clean or exfoliate my feet. Ok, I thought, next time I will bring my own tools and products. The manicurist was very uptight and unfriendly. And of course, my manicure chipped within a day or two.
I went again two days ago, this time bringing my own supplies and even nail polish. The pedicure was fine but again little to no attention to detail...I just brushed it off thinking they do more services with their upgraded pedicure spa treatments. Soon there was a back and forth about tip between the Latina pedicurist and the Korean manicurist. I don't understand the class system, it was frustrating and unrelaxing to experience.
The manicurist, Lee, acted friendly but wasn't doing a good job. She was clearly leaving major gaps between my nail and cuticles and she didnt even dip my hands in any solution before cutting the dead skin so it was very abrasive when she was cutting them - to which she responded that my tool was too dull. Fine, maybe my tool could have been dull. However, I asked her politely that it's too far low and if she could get closer. She gave an annoyed look to which I felt obligated to say to her "I understand I am picky, but I do a really good job by myself, which is why I expect a better experience from a professional." She started saying "oh, I guess I am not doing a good job, then." I felt obligated to appease her and say "No, it's fine, you're doing a good job." To which she responded "if you do such a good job yourself, why did you come here?" I was surprised that she had the gall to state it but still I was polite and said "its because everyone wants to be pampered sometime." I then asked her to apply three coats because the two coats werent looking good. She gave a confused look and said oh, it wont dry, are you sure? I get 3 coats many times and brought my own quickdry topcoat. She quickly applied the third coat and unevenly applied the topcoat which left streaks and major lines near the cuticle. Not realizing this, I tipped her, guiltily, and dried my nails thinking not to bother anyone too much.
When I got home, my husband thought I did the nails myself and asked me if I was in a rush since it wasn't the usual way I do them. I told him no, I got them done professionally. After looking at them at home, I noticed there were major gaps and the polish was totally uneven on my hands, which were done by Lee.
The only reason I would not report this business for their unhygienic ways is if it gets shut down, those Hispanic women would be out of jobs. They have families to feed, I thought, and so I decided against it. However, I hope the owners see this review and really reconsider their business strategy. It's busy enough, but none of the clients look happy. Convenience is the only reason, it seems people come here.
I wouldn't recommend this place nor will be giving them a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give 0 stars, I would. This was my go to place for manicures and pedicures. However, my mom got a gel manicure from her a week ago and went on her vacation, a day later, she said her right pinky started swelling and turning red, right at the cuticle bed. When she finally got home, I noticed that her nail bed started turning yellow and two other finger got infected as well. Upon getting it checked by the doctor, she (the doctor) confirmed that this most likely was caused by the unclean tools used at the nail salon. I would give them the benefit of the doubt if I, myself, hadnāt asked them to use sanitary, disinfected tools during my manicures a few times. Itās a shame, I used to really like going here but that will no longer be the case. Be careful when youāre getting your nails done here, ask them to use new, disinfected...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey have a great selection of nail color ( especially SNS AND GEL) and itās hit or miss the type of experience youāre going to have. If you make an appointment be prepared to wait or have them mess it up. The organization and management of clients is by no means in order. They struggle to know āwhoās nextā. They tend to ignore you too if youāve tried to speak up about telling them you have an appointment and have been waiting. So if you find a girl you like try making an appointment with them personally and desk so you can save yourself the hassle of waiting or arguing that a walk ins took your time slot. Sometimes prices randomly change so ask before youāre done how much everything is before an unknown price is tacked on. Always love pedicures though (those girls are friendly and very good) and for the most part the manicures...
