If it were possible to give negative reviews regarding my experience, I 100% would. (Part 1) To preface, I've written down all events that transpired as they happened throughout the day so that no events go unwritten. To start things off our 10 AM class did not start on time due to Celeen's poor time management and forced us to begin half an hour late... Upon addressing if the loss of time was going to affect our total project time, Celeen responded with a nasty "Am I not teaching the class?" Not only does this NOT address our concern for loss of time and in turn loss of money spent, it is also plain rude. Realizing this wasn't exactly the answer we were hoping for, our group pushed it aside because ultimately we came to have a nice time and enjoy this brand new experience. Once we finally began tufting, one of our members of the group cuts themselves not once but TWICE on the various exposed tufting pins/nails. After realizing that MY MOTHER was bleeding from the fingers we tried addressing this to Celeen. We tried not once, twice or three times to get her attention, a clear sign of her ignoring us as a group but upon the fourth time trying to gain her attention we asked her if there was anything or anyway to cover up these exposed pins/nails. Her answer was "That's why our classes are 18 and older." This left me absolutely dumbfounded because not only is this not the answer I was expecting but it has nothing to do with the concerns I've brought up to Celeen. At this point my experience is completely tarnished and I'm beyond upset at not only my instructor putting a sour taste to the tufting workshop but a blatant lack of empathy for a paying customer. Asking for a Band-aid seemed like a hassle and when Celeen finally gave us one she seemed very unconcerned about it. This is where i remarked that "You've got a nasty attitude" to Celeen's response being "You guys are the one who have an attitude with me." At no point throughout this horrid experience could we say that we were nasty, even disregarding all the unprofessional incidents that had occurred so far. This is unacceptable in any profession and still we tried to make light of such a terrible experience. Continuing on there were two others in the class and it was obvious that Celeen was investing all her time and energy to make sure they understood how to complete the project. Whereas with us we were completely left in the dark and only greeted by Celeen's "Are you done?" Once we completed the tufting part of the project we moved on to the hot glue and cutting station. Celeen strikes yet again by actively invading my personal space and crowding the table used for this part of the project. I'm not sure why Celeen felt the need to sprawl over the little workspace I was working at and clean the hot glue residue as I'm rushing to complete this part on time. Pushing forward once again realizing how much time and investment Celeen has with the two others in the room we were left stranded and only confronted with Celeen's "Are you done?" AGAIN. Not once did she stop to give us any advice or tips on how to make our PAID product look any better or strengthen our tufting skills like Celeen was doing with the other people. My Mother and I felt completely segregated and as if there was a constant rush to get us out of the building. Celeen was so adamant on making the other two peoples projects look amazing and 3D realistic but as she got to us all that was done was a vacuum and a wrap up. Celeen did not trim our projects or try to touch it up to look any better as an...
Read moreThe studio was clean and a great size My biggest issues is the amount of staff they had
One female was in one side of the classroom and came in to help a few times while the only other 2 staff is trying to help my party of 5 plus at least 6 other people Leslie was a super star she basically was the only one helping my group and almost felt like we were annoying the other help
We went over our time and no one came around to at least warn us so keep track of your own time because they do not care to charge you
It’s obvious that we would go over our time when we have to wait for assistance They should also be transparent about how long they think a design would take
As we are working they are sweeping and taking tables apart around us which made us feel super uncomfortable. It made us feel like we were being pushed out They could have used that same energy in helping us finish our projects and we probably would have finished on time
Overall a great experience but I hope they take what people are saying and implement some new practices Because for $250 I expect to be helped when needed, as well as proper instruction. I had to help my group at certain points because they was anyone avail at the moment which caused me to even finish my...
Read moreIf it were possible to give negative reviews regarding my experience, I 100% would. (Part 2) As we were wrapping everything up and getting to the part where WE PAY, we were notified by Celeen that we went over our time by half an hour EACH. Let me stress that at NO point throughout ANY of the "lessons" did Celeen give us a reference to how much time we had left. All in all, I paid a hefty price to be belittled, segregated, have my personal space invaded and charged extra for her lack of time management and lack of professionalism. I would've had a better time buying the materials myself and trying to learn the craft at home than with Celeen. Go Tufting NYC's belief of "The healing capability from the handcrafting process, ESPECIALLY from the tufting process." falls completely flat on its face with an instructor like...
