We came as a party of 3 on Nov 13th, not gonna judge the general taste of food much, we didn't like it and it's well known that all dishes are just pre-made anyways. However the 熏鱼 was no where near the shown picture or what it supposed to be like (we grew up eating it) the moment we saw the fish we were like what is this? We noticed something wrong before tasting it. The server was nice enough to return the dish for us with a nice attitude but at this moment when everything could've just ended this guy with glasses, not too tall, northern Chinese accent, called himself the person in charge just jumps in and was like "我来,我来‘’. Trying to take care of a situation that was already solved, and with his nasty attitude he escalated the whole situation and ruined our dinner. He was like “我们店名叫江南但是不是做的江南菜系,你们点的大部分都是本帮菜” well whatever you say 熏鱼 is also part of 本帮菜, I have no clue why he was arguing and giving this useless statement. He then said people reported this dish cuz someone got choked with fish bones so they changed the whole dish. (Well shouldn't you change the name of the dish?) I then took a bite of the fish and told him this doesn't take right either, he's like ok we can return this dish (which what the nice server offered from the beginning) After agreeing on returning the dish the manager guy was like if you don't like the eel you can return that too, with a bad attitude. First of all no one has spoken about any other dish other than the smoke fish, and we got irritated by him adding on more and more grudges to this whole situation. And then he claims that he was eavesdropping our conversation the whole time and heard that, me personally don't like the eel too. 全程阴阳怪气,没有情商,装逼,躲避错误制造麻烦。 yes you may overhear something but telling us that you're eavesdropping on our conversation and that you're the manager? That is just a crazy thing to say. We did not bring up any other concerns other than the fish and this manager keeps on bringing this restaurant more trouble. We had a horrible time dining, everything tasted worse off cause we were treated with a nasty attitude. He's original words were like "我可以把熏鱼给你们退掉,那你们鳝丝还要不要退啊,其他菜要不要退啊‘’ I went like why don't I return all the dishes then, I don't like none of it. My mom has to ask him to leave cause he just keeps using aggressive words at us none stop and don't know how to end it. I gotta say all the other servers were nice, but that only one with power ruined your restaurant's reputation. The server who brought out the dish only worked for 2 weeks and was handling customer service very well, in the end the nicer server apologized for his supervisor's actions and said usually in this case you guys should get a discount but unfortunately he doesn't have the authority to do so. So you see after this whole story, authority is in the wrong hands and we did not get an apology by the so called person in charge/manager. I also a food&beverage myself, I'd fire that guy right away, unless he's here with unbeatable relationships or referral. Like who would escalated on a not so happy situation that has already been solved, you jump in not to apologize but make things wayyyy worse then tell us you were eavesdropping our conversation tye whole time, this is unacceptable. This person owes us an apology, and even owes that server an apology, cause he was doing good. This manager does not know how to respect customers or his crew, very unworthy. We did end up tipping the normal amount with this bad experience cause I don't think the other servers should not get their share of tips just because of this one...

Read moreThe only reason I’m not giving it a 5-star is because I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I’d be for a Michelin rated chef. However, the experience overall matched that of a nice restaurant. The food came out quickly, without any issues, and tasty. The service was mostly good - Hao L. our server was great but the army of servers kept accumulating right by our table in the walkway and loudly discussing things, killing the mood a bit. It didn’t help that it was bright as a hospital operating room in there - you could every detail of everything, far far far from an intimate, private atmosphere that a dining space typically has. I think an adjustment to the lights, the staff making sure they chat in a lower tone and farther away from the tables, and a few months to get settled into the space and this will be a very sought after spot. I do really recommend it for Chinese food lovers, it was very nice, just give them a break as they figure things out. ◡̈ Vegans welcome, several options clearly marked in the menu!! Huge menu overall, pretty impressive, and I loved the pickled veggies we got on the table as a snack. The spinach, vegan entree, was impressive. It had a tiny bit of a smoke flavor, great umami, and the sauce (peanut curd) was so hearty. Really enjoyed that. Also really liked the hot & sour soup which came with a little built in heat source under the serving dish to keep it simmering, to keep it hot, and I feel as though it enhanced the experience. Thoughtful touch. Eggplant was great, prepare yourself for garlic! Soup Dumplings were fantastic! I love soup dumplings and these were as tasty as ever. Soup spoons didn’t come out with them but when HOA saw we were missing the spoons, he literally ran to get them for us! Unnecessary but so sweet to put that much effort into making sure we had the best experience. I have to also say, a plate of the cumin sizzling lamb walked past our table and the sizzling sounds and fragrances made both of us stop and stare and drool! Looking forward to coming back and trying...
