Title: An Enchanting Evening at the Feather Factory: Celebrating a 1920s Murder-Mystery Birthday in Style
During my recent visit to the Feather Factory Hotel in Long Island City for a private 1920s-themed murder-mystery birthday party, I was genuinely impressed by several aspects of this unique boutique hotel.
Staff Service: The staff, particularly Luis and Johnson, were outstanding. Their helpfulness and courteous demeanor significantly enhanced the overall experience.
Lobby: Though small, the hotel lobby had a modern, relaxing ambiance. The self-service tea and coffee counter added a touch of convenience and comfort.
Parking: Finding parking at night was surprisingly easy, with ample space across the street from the hotel.
Views and Ambiance: The night view of Manhattan and parts of Long Island City from the hotel was stunning and unique. Despite its proximity to train tracks, the noise from passing trains was not a disturbance, allowing for an undisturbed enjoyment of the scenery.
Food Quality: The culinary experience was a highlight. The menu, inspired by the 1920s, included a variety of liquors, pre-dinner cheeses, flavored popcorn, and a selection of soft drinks and snacks. The food, served in heated trays, was tasty, well-cooked, and refreshing. Standout dishes included chicken parmesan, pasta, and cooked vegetables.
Event Room and Amenities: The lighting in the event room was soft yet party-appropriate, creating a comfortable atmosphere for the evening. The music system provided a clear and immersive sound, adding to the party vibe. Although the bathrooms were small, they were well-maintained and clean. The dining arrangements were also commendable, with large tables and comfortable seating.
Private Event Note: It's important to note that I attended a private birthday party by invitation only. This event was not a regular public event hosted by the hotel but a special occasion that showcased the hotel's capabilities for hosting private functions.
In conclusion, based on my limited experience at the Feather Factory Hotel during the private event, the hotel demonstrated a commendable blend of historic ambiance and modern amenities. While my insights are confined to this specific occasion and don't encompass an overnight stay, the service and facilities I encountered suggest it could be a viable option for those seeking a venue with character and efficiency in Long...
Read more3 stars based solely on my experience and not on the overall performance of the hotel. But let me start with the pros. Staff are courteous , hotel is very clean, beds are clean, towels and pillows are soft , street parking is abundant . .. great location, not very far from trains. Now for the CONS and my horrible experience .... There's no refrigerator or microwave in the room as you get with almost every other property in this area at equal or lesser price, breakfast is not included with all room rates which you also get with the competition. it's an additional 8 dollars per person per night ..... WiFi is not great if you want to stream certain things apparently only works with basic streaming and Netflix also good luck if you need to connect a peripheral to the TV like your gaming console or a streaming device because they are mounted flush to the wall and does not move it's next to impossible to get an HDMI connected and if you do get connected let's hope you have a long enough power cord to reach the outlet. Now i can't speak for all the rooms but i had a room facing the train station on the 4th floor. 404 and it is loud ! All night i heard the passing of every train , however the view is nice . But if you are a light sleeper like myself this is not ideal ... I also had neighbors from hell in the room next door 403, it seems that had some sort of party all night and all the way into the morning to around 10 am it seems there were like 10 people in the room, all night there was shouting and jumping and banking on the wall my bed was literally shaking it felt they were in my room , my head board banged and banged against the wall as they did whatever was happing in that room. However i wouldn't let one bad experience hinder me from trying this...

I saw several reviews with concerns about the location. What you think of the area depends entirely which route you walk. If you leave the hotel and go left, I can understand why some folks would be nervous, especially at night. The street in this direction is smaller and has a lot of cars along the side. There is an immigrant housing facility about a block away, and people tend to congregate outside. If you leave the hotel and go right, the street is much wider and better lit. If this concerns you and you are walking, take the 7 to/from Court Square. If you’re following Google Maps, use Jingly or Joypot as an intermediate stop to follow Jackson St and cross the train tracks on Thompson. Otherwise, Hunters Point is about 4 minutes closer - there should be no concerns going that way during the day.
Long Island City is primarily industrial, or redeveloped from industrial, and that’s where this hotel is. As with any city hotel, if noise is a concern, earplugs are a great help. There are Amtrak, LIRR, and MTA lines that run nearby, and there is a concrete plant right around here corner.
That’s all the bad parts. If you have realistic expectations, this is a great hotel. It’s a great midpoint between the airport and Manhattan if you’re here for a quick getaway...
