Sensible Edibles Bakery makes delicious vegan and gluten-free treats. I received a variety of cookies and bars in a neatly arranged box. They all arrived in perfect condition that even came with a cute reusable bag! I liked how they were individually packaged so flavors didn't transfer to the other items. I loved all of the treats however the Grassroot bar was my favorite. It had carrots, zucchini, and raisins however you would have never known that from the taste! It was sweet and chewy with a wonderful brown sugar oat bar flavor. Raspberry hazelnut was my second favorite. It has a nice thick layer of raspberry jam in the middle and it tastes amazing sandwiched in between the cookie bars. Raspberry thumbprint was also unique with the raspberry preserve topping as well as the energy and oatmeal raisin cookies that were huge! This review is for a 10-inch vegan, gluten free banana walnut cake that my husband surprised me with for Valentine’s. I was so thrilled when I saw the box because Sensible Edibles offers so many goodies through their website. The cake was minimally decorated; frosting to cake ratio was not so balanced. I would have preferred more cake and less frosting. The taste of the overall cake was disappointing. The bottom layer was overbaked and dried out. No amount of frosting could cover that up. The texture had a nice crumb, but the flavor was lacking. The strong banana aroma did not translate into the bite. The frosting was a bit too sweet, but that’s a personal preference. I can not get over the fact that the layers were so so dry. They could have trashed the first overdone, overbaked batch and started fresh, but it seems that was not worth the effort. I looked up this bakery after purchasing their chocolate chip cookie at a vegetarian takeout restaurant a couple times. It is so good that I had to find the source, so I found their Google page and Instagram account. I received cookies, bars and a brownie in the mail, packaged beautifully and individually wrapped. I don't have any allergies or dietary restrictions and would still go for their products, everything I tried is delicious! My favorites are the raspberry bar (it has a perfect crumb topping that could go against any non-vegan crumb cake) and of course the chocolate chip cookies (my go-to sweet when I want to treat myself). The grassroot bar reminds me of zucchini bread. I have friends with allergies and those with gluten sensitivities, so I recommended it to them, and recommend this to anyone looking for delicious...
