Good Lady African Hair Braiding — Attraction in New York

Told me there's no place offering a $120 style for box braids the length I wanted but get that length for that amount every time I get my hair done don't matter where I go. Tried to charge me $180. I called to find the price before hand so I won't waste my time going there and it be way more than what I usually get charged but she insisted I come in even though I explained exactly the length and style I wanted. I call to let her know I'm still coming because I was looking for a beauty supply store to get the hair from and she said she had hair and the color I wanted which was red..😒 when I got there she had red clown textured hair that was clearly used and cut talking about that's it 😂😂. The place is super tiny. I should've turned back around once she showed me that hair. Could've had the decency to show me closed packs of hair not open and used hair all over the counter. One of the worst experiences I had. As soon I walked in they all look at you all judgy, probably my skin color doesn’t tell you I am also black. They only accept cash which is fine, proceed to showed them what I wanted which was simple braid no extensions and they wouldn’t give me a price, they wanted me to sit down right away. I gave them a chance since was my first time doing braids. I showed the girl the picture again. Took her about an hour and a half and they look nothing like the picture I showed her. Once was finally done I asked the owner for the price and she charged me $100 when she was charging others $70-$80. They didn’t put rubber bands to hold my braids together, apparently is something you have to ask, which would’ve been nice to know in advance. My braids started to fall...

I loved everything about my experience getting my hair done, I usually do my own hair to avoid unprofessional hairstylists but I had a great experience, definitely coming back again. Christine was my braider and she was professional and a sweetheart the entire time. From calling to make sure I come to the appointment and asking me if the desired look is okay through the process, I can tell she cares about exactly what you want and is professional about her work. I got medium sized butt length knotless braids and she delivered above my expectations! I expected to be there the whole day but the whole process took around 5 hours with an assistant.
