Written a few months ago and just realized I haven't posted it. Blocks face
Curiosity brought me here (I like Asian supermarkets) but their affordable microwavable dinners, quick rice and dumplings keeps me coming back. Mind you, prices on other items seem to be way over the top, at least a lot more than other supermarkets in this Lefrak City area.
Shopping here is a bit different. I've hardly ever seen anyone doing much talking (except children), folks just float in and out of aisles as though on hoverboards. I've never seen it crowded either and for a supermarket this size I wonder.....
I don't see a lot of tipping at supermarkets but according to signs posted, it isn't allowed here.
There is validated parking.
I've made a friend here. We bow and (make up) sign language a lot as we don't speak each other's language. Haha. Only him and the Hispanic cashier seems friendly.
Hispanic, of course Asian as well as American foods available.
Many many many isles of snacks. Seafood galore. Dumplings of all varieties. And everything else. Including toiletries and kitchen utensils. Oh, there's a pharmacy section at the front AFTER you've paid for your groceries.
The toilet is the worst I've seen. There's one that's blocked off that hasn't been cleaned I do believe (from my recollection) for months. I don't know why. I've only used the one next to it when I absolutely almost peed myself. Twice. I try not to look down at the other side. It takes me a while to get back to choosing FOOD after I'm done using that toilet. GW, please see about that.
Shudders
Back to my snacks. I like most of their TV dinners but I've been known to throw some away after one taste, I enjoy trying though. Sometimes, they offer food samples but I don't like tea, not even the Japanese type.
Welcome to Great Wall...

Your customer service is less than satisfactory.
The cashiers don't routinely put purchased items in the shopping bag the way it's done by all supermarkets here in the U.S., for example nearby competitors 'Ideal Supermarket' or 'Food Bazaar Supermarket'. Your employees need better training.
The attitude and demeanor of the cashiers is as if customers are bothering them by coming into the store and buying things. They need better training to be made aware that customers' purchases contribute to company profits and pay their salary.
This unfriendly and ungrateful attitude may or may not be customary in China, but here in the U.S. it's certainly not acceptable.
This is FYI in the hope that you can upgrade your service standards. Given a choice, I'd much rather shop at some other supermarket than Great Wall if I, and all customers, don't receive a minimum of good customer service.
We don't go into a store only for the items, we also go in if the customer service...
Read moreOne of my favorite supermarkets to shop at during the pandemic. Very clean and organized. Spacious aisles, more than enough for two carts to go though comfortably, definitely a plus when you want to be socially distant.
I love the fruit and vegetable selection. Their selection of grapes and dragonfruit has been superb. There are already quite a few produce pictures posted by other reviewers, so I decided to post pictures from my favorite aisle, ramen! Also included a picture of the impressive side aisle. The huge selection of noodles though, are great shelf stable items to keep in the pantry for a while if you’re like me and don’t want to go shopping every week.
My apartment is close to this supermarket but I’ve been quarantining with my friends about 45 minutes away. For the last few months they’ve been driving me over about once a month just to shop there for certain produce that we can’t find in the supermarkets by their house. If you’re close to this supermarket, definitely...
