Overall it is a great small-scale supermarket. You will want to go there for low priced groceries for small families. The employees do what they can and generally work hard. Lots of complaints in other reviews can be attributed to the variance in customer behavior.
A few things of note: Aldi brand lactose free milk supply is very inconsistent. Some days you will see lots of them, then suddenly they won't stock them for days to weeks, and just put other stuff in their place, but the label is unchanged.
They really need to restock Friendlyfarms Iced Coffee. It is one of the best coffees in my opinion, comparable to stuff from starbucks. But for some reason they have not stocked it for almost 2 months now, but the label is still there.
You will sometimes have people trying to cut in front of you to save that extra minute of time. You will see people being selfish/inconsiderate and just rip off individual pieces of banana to add to their 3 banana bundle, or open a box of strawberries and "taste" them. Some people would rather check prices at the register then decide something is too expensive, when they could have read the label, and that slows down the line significantly. Some will drop and break bottles of sauce or milk and leave it, with the best ones dropping it near the cashiers. But every now and then there would be the super nice grandmother that hands you an extra plastic bag she had, without you even asking.
Not everything is low price. Their store brands will generally be a good deal, but name brand stuff like poptarts might be more expensive than if you bought them from costco. The tradeoff is that you pay extra per unit, so in case you don't like it, you won't have to deal with the rest of the big box if you bought from costco. Your best bet is to examine the middle isles first, where they keep all the sale items, then decide...
Read moreI thought this Aldi would be better than the one in Jamaica, but somehow it's worse. They allow people to bring those enormously wide Costco shopping carts inside although they're not supposed to, and those carts take up the width of nearly an entire aisle making it hard to pass through. I don't blame them though because there are never enough Aldi carts. Are they too cheap to order more?
I saw some raw meat sitting out at the checkout for like an hour because I guess a customer didn't want them but no staff came to put it back. I'm almost certain that this now unsafe, room temp meat was eventually put back in the fridge to be resold. I got food poisoning from improperly stored meat at the Jamaica Aldi so I'm hoping the same doesn't happen here.
Associates, instead of being normal and using a speaker system, shout loudly around you that the store is closing in 10 minutes.
There was an African American cashier loudly shouting at her manager "I gotta go, I gotta go!" because she was overdue for her break. All in front of customers. No professionalism.
As you walk around you'll see that customers have left meat, eggs, milk etc on the shelves (which are very likely put back into stock later despite now being unsafe and unrefrigerated too long) and also trash and management doesn't seem to care. Also a cashier put a bunch of heavy crap onto my bread in the cart and squished it. How can you be that dumb?
Lines are long but they do move fast. Employees don't restock often on non-busy times such as Monday night. They'd rather just do menial stuff like crushing boxes and having conversations. You have to beg them to get you something from the back because they're too lazy to restock the shelves like they're...
Read moreI hope this gets to a manager. Today I visited the store with my 1 year old son. My husband is home from the hospital with a broken leg. So I’m doing my best to stock up on groceries. It was overall chaos for me because my toddler was crying and yelling. I’m trying to calm him down while also trying to get what we need. The store is also very busy with customers. My cashier was kind and understanding. The issue I ran into was, while I was packing my car I realized that I was missing a 12 pack of seltzer water. At this time my toddler is calm, so I decide to go back into the store to ask about my 12 pack. However I’m still stressed because I need to get back to my husband and feed my child. You can see the stress on my face. A few employees check the camera and said that they saw the cashier place the 12 pk in the cart and saw me leave the store with it. At this point I go back to the car, I triple check. And also check the cart I was using. I go back a second time and insist someone come with me to my car to check, because I’m not trying to steal. I’m just trying to get what I paid for. They check the cameras again…. And show me what they see. So at this point I’m thinking I’m crazy. Or somebody must have stole it while I was packing the car. The point I’m trying to make is.. I’ almost in tears, trying to keep it together. I’m obviously stressed. Why couldn’t they write off a 12 pk from the inventory for me and let me go. I shop at aldis all the time, and have never in my life stolen from them. I love Aldis. And yes it’s just $4.. but in this economy $4 is going a long way for me and my family. I’m disappointed and sad. This company makes millions of dollars…there was...
