Newtown Playground — Attraction in New York

The playground is poorly designed. The grass area is nothing but dirt instead of soil. The grass area contains a lot of bare spots as plants can hardly grow in the dirt. The teenagers play soccer and football in the grass area. Some of the trees growing have their trunks broken in half. Branches were snapped off by the teenagers "playing" around the trees. The play area's surface is uneven and not carefully thought out to allow smaller children to play without being run over by the older children. The swings and play sets are not arranged for the children to play without bumping into each other. Many of the senior residence can only go to a few small benches and tables at the entrance to relax with the smell and listen to the traffic noise next to them. There are no park benches in the grass area for the senior to sit and watch birds...

The park itself is ok but the visitors except the kids make it like a hippie heaven. People smoking weed, making out in public. For god sake its a childrens park, at least have some sense before doing these activities in the park. Something's really wrong with the new generation. Their activities creates a wrong impression to these innocent kids coming to the park. The park rules clearly mention that these activities are prohibited in the park but only if someone followed them. It's really sad to see this and instead of smelling fresh air we just smell the freaking weed. Something...

I never taken my son here before but today we went for about 40mins only bc i was waiting for my sister who was at the Mall. This park is gross! It reeked of urine by the benches. But their were a lot of kids and my little guy had fun. I also didnt like that the actually playground itself is so close to the open entrances/exist of the park.
