Whoever is working the desk today, July 12 at 3:49 pm refused to help me look for the Pilates mat that I left at this club a couple days ago. He repeatedly told me I could come look for it myself. He said he was the only one “at the desk” and offered no solution. I asked him if anyone else could look and he said again I can look for it myself. As I pay over $300 per month for this membership to be able to go to several locations, I feel that as a “Consierge” best of the best club, someone should happily take the time to look for something that a client left before I make a trip out there. I don’t always go to that location. He could have offered to call me back and not even done it - but the attitude is clearly lacking any desire to be helpful. I’ve noticed this lazy attitude at other locations too from the staff, not the instructors. Several times I’ve walked into a new club when I’m in that area to be met with an annoyed stare of “why are you looking at me” when the employees are...
Read moreThe equipment is high quality and the staff is friendly, but there is usually only one of each machine. This often makes it difficult, and sometimes impossible, to complete a workout. Many times, a single person will occupy a machine for 20 minutes or more, leaving no alternative but to wait. Some members seem to believe that because they pay this expensive price, they can do whatever they want — including texting between sets or monopolizing multiple machines for supersets. I once saw someone using three different pieces of equipment at the same time while on the phone, refusing to let others work in.
Another major drawback is the lack of staff presence on the floor. Unless you pay for private training, there is essentially no one to help manage gym etiquette or provide assistance.
If you’re willing to spend this amount of money but don’t have two hours a day to dedicate to waiting for equipment, I’d recommend considering Chelsea Piers instead of...
Read moreOk, so as a disclaimer, I'm posting these reviews for my reference. I have an All Access Membership, and I want to visit as many of these as I can, to see which one I like most/would like to go to. My interests are powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, swimming, so my review will be geared towards that.
This gym is huge, in a great location, has plenty of great amenities. Three floors, the bottom floor is for lifting and cardio, the ground floor is for a Juice Press, the Shop, and the lobby, the 1st floor is for classes: yoga, and pilates. My interest is in the bottom floor, it is huge, with a lot of cardio machines, a nice stretching area (not too big, but adequate with plenty of foam rollers and bands), a nice open space for deadlifting. It has two benches, I believe, two squat racks. This was definitely a nice visit.
