It's amazing what you can pack into a garden that is a block long by about twenty feet wide! Star attraction for me is the Dawn Redwood, the only deciduous redwood, and until the 1940's thought to be extinct. You can see it from blocks away, looking something like a giant cypress. In winter it looks dead and then like a Spring miracle it shoots forth millions of lovely fresh green needles. And that's just the start, it is simply a great community garden with some very seriously...

A piece of tranquil oasis that surprised me as a passer-by, I didn’t know it existed before I stepped in, now I cannot forget its beautiful. I am truly amazed how well the plants are kept, somebody must have put so much love in taking care of them, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who is involved! For a busy city like New York, it’s a blessing to have patches of nature like this - nature heals...

Don’t bother with this place. A sign on the gate indicates the garden is open from 12 to 4 pm on Saturdays in April. So does Google I walked all the way down there and a lady inside said they are closed because of COVID. Why don’t they change their sign. A community garden padlocked to the community. A wonderful little community garden which is an oasis from busy noisy NoLita/LES. Hours: Sat, Sun 12 - 4pm; Tue, Thu 6 - dusk (as of 2018-07-15, may be summer hours). Long and more and yet seems to bigger than it is! Even has a goldfish pond and mini gazebo.
