Alex Takes You on a NYC Gallery Tour 🖼️🗽 Season 1/9 THE HOLE

I was on a self-guided tour of Greenwich Village and decidedly to take in some art at this small, contemporary gallery. The themes revolving around my visit were Title IX, sports and Grand Theft Auto style video game art. It was enjoyable with some pieces truly impressing me, especially Noel W Anderson's Lats to the Kin, 2021-2023, picked and stretched cotton tapestry with photo objects and laser-cut basketball leather.

The best gallery I’ve visited in a while. The door was slightly cracked open, inviting you to come in. Many galleries in the city are visitor hostile in subtle ways. This place is the complete opposite. The current exhibit blew me away. It’s clear the curator only selects artists who have rock solid foundational skills. Everything in the gallery was amazing to look at.

The Hole is a great little spot in the East Village. I love checking in as often as possible as their shows change regularly. Some favorites in the past few years have been Vanessa Prager, the joyfully off-the-wall Jaimie Warren, mind blowing Holton Rower, and their current (and simply stunning/creative/all of the feelings) Adam Parker Smith. I appreciate art but am by no means well versed. I find their staff to be incredibly informative, helpful, and art lovers themselves. It's nice to interact with people who believe in what they do and are attempting, in their own way, to make the world a more beautiful and creative place.

And have you seen the gallery dog!? Who is...

The thing about galleries is that they don't really pay attention to small time complaints about copyrights and tracing accusations from other artists until it becomes a big full blown scale of attention and bad media. Kinda wish they'd be more diligent in checking who's selling at their galleries and more considerate or artists asking after their traced works, but what can you do? The artists they showcase are the people that represents...
