The British woman at the box office is truly one of the nastiest human beings I have ever encountered in my entire life. When I walked into the lobby, before I had even started talking, she SCREAMED at me: "Do you see the sign?! It says BE QUIET, there is a SHOW going on!!!!" Like, ma'am, you are the only one making noise?! I opened my mouth to quietly request tickets and she again screamed, "WHAT? I can't HEAR YOU!" Slightly louder, I said "I'd like to purchase tickets for tonight." She screamed "I STILL CAN'T HEAR YOU! Maybe if you take off your USELESS mask." I did as she "requested" but she continued to have problems understanding me despite me speaking at a normal, not-too-loud, not-too-soft volume, and she repeatedly got frustrated and screamed "WHAT?!?!" every time she misunderstood me even though it was a simple request for two tickets. At one point, she asked for my email and I gave it to her, but wasn't sure if she needed it for a receipt, for marketing purposes, or because the tickets were digital, so wanting to clarify, I said, "I just want to confirm that you're sending the tickets via email?" I thought it was a sensible question given that the last time I purchased tickets in person at a box office I received physical paper tickets. But apparently, it was the dumbest question she'd ever heard in her life, as she rolled her eyes and said "Uhhhh, YEAH, that's why I asked for your EMAIL???" It took everything in me to not call her a very rude word that rhymes with punt. Never again paying money to a company that hires people like this to interact with the public. Do better, Shubert...
Read moreThe Longacre Theatre is one of the famous venues on Broadway. It has been active since 1913 and is owned by the Shuberts. There’s a famous urban legend that the venue was cursed. Famous impresario Harry Frazee, who constructed the Longacre ran out of money during the construction. So he sold Babe Ruth’s contract from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees. Many producers avoided the theatre for a while, but many others have succeeded there, so I guess it’s not much of a curse. The Longacre Theatre is perfectly – suited to take any show. With its 1091 seats it has staged many famous shows like The Lightning Thief, The Prom, A Bronx Tale, and Of Mice and Men. The most – recent addition to this list was the anticipated biographical musical Diana. This is probably the best time for such a show, and it would certainly achieve great success once the theatres open. The British Royal Family always caused controversy at some point, and Princess Diana was no exception. The musical shows all the obstacles she faced as a Princess, and gives a detail portrait of people like Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth II. With all the hustle around Harry and Meghan, the show would certainly grab a lot...
Read moreIt was getting near to the end of my trip to New York and i wanted to see at least one more show before it left. I had been listening to the cast recording of ‘The Prom’ before and I really enjoyed it, so getting to see it live was a perfect decision! I was trying to get the cheapest seat available so I went to the box office and asked however the cheapest one had been sold whilst i was talking to the saleswoman - she offered me a more expensive seat which was reduced (it ended up being around $10 more than the cheapest one) so I bought it. Everyone who worked in the theatre was super friendly and when I got to the Mezzanine I had an usher swap me round to Centre Mezzanine which was really nice. It was the furthest row back, however she came and told me that I could move to the second row after the lights went down but I preferred to stay where i was :) after Act 1 i then said thank you to her for letting me move and she then told me that i could go and sit wherever I liked as long as no one sat there so I moved back to second row for Act 2 and i had a great view! The show as a whole was very enjoyable and funny, and it left me feeling really positive. I’d love to come and...
