I very much dislike this theater. Last year for our one year anniversary my girlfriend and I decided to go to NY. She had never been, and always wanted to go, and I just loved NY and additionally my hero Mel Brooks at the age of 92 was going to do a live show. I woke up early in the morning, and bought decent tickets, nothing to expensive, but then later that day I saw there was a VIP opportunity. I got really excited, because it was my dream to meet him. I talked to my girlfriend and because she is the best girlfriend ever she agreed to get a VIP ticket with me. The tickets I believe were a little over 600 dollars each (if not more), and keep in mind I was a student, and this 600 dollars was almost all of my savings, but you know when you have a dream, especially one that you might not get a chance to accomplish again, you have to do it. The description online for the VIP experience was a little confusing, so just to make sure (because again 600 is a lot especially when you don't have much more) I called the theater directly to ask them if this was indeed a meet and greet, and they said yes. Later that day my girlfriend called them as well, and they again said yes. So, the next day when I was about to upgrade the tickets, I decided to triple check and I called the theater again to make sure, and guess what they said, yes. I got the tickets, and I did not regret it one bit, I was so excited! The VIP experience began I think two hours before the show in the Italian restaurant next to the theater, that's where we thought he would come, but he never came. All we got was not a very good Italian buffet, a signed poster, and I'm not going to lie incredible seats in one of the first few rows. I can't complain about the seats, or the show, both of those were amazing. But if I knew there was no meet and greet, I would have for sure not spend my savings on this and either would my girlfriend. Like I said I could have gotten much better food for much cheaper, the poster was nice, but I didn't need it, I had something signed by him already, and while the seats were incredible, I didn't mind much worse seats like I bought initially, I only spent most of my savings to meet my hero, and that did not happen! We talked to someone there, who was kind of running the VIP event, but she said she can't really do anything about it and we have to talk to the box office. So a couple days later (as not to ruin the rest of our trip by focusing on this) we called the box office. For starters the lady was so rude! For someone in the customer service industry, she knew not one thing about customer service. She disagreed with everything we said to her. Eventually we asked to speak to a manger, and she said they are not here right now, I'll leave your name and number on a sticky note, and she'll call you guys back. This was a year ago so I'm having a hard time remembering exact lengths of time, but a few days or maybe a week later we called back because we still had not gotten a call. We were told the manger is not in, and they're sorry they haven't called yet and the manger will call me when she can. About a month later, after still never getting the call I decided to try talking to Ticket Master, but of course they could not do anything since it was the theater people who told us there would be a meet and greet. So i tried filing one of those credit card complaints, and they also could not give me my money back, again because they paid ticket master not the theater. We ended up giving up and never getting our money back. I'm sorry for the super long, not very well written review, but I'm just still so angry and upset a year later. Thank you for reading, I do want to say one more time, the show itself was incredible, I mean how can Mel not...

The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre is an absolute gem and a true beacon of Broadway excellence. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported into a world of history, charm, and theatrical magic. This iconic venue is not just a place to see a show—it’s an experience that stays with you long after the curtain falls.

First, let’s talk about the architecture. The theater beautifully combines classic elegance with a cozy, intimate vibe that makes every seat feel connected to the stage. The detailing in the interior design is stunning, with its ornate carvings and vintage touches that remind you of the theater’s rich history. Yet, it’s clear that the Lunt-Fontanne has been thoughtfully modernized without losing its timeless character. The seating is comfortable, and even from the mezzanine, the sightlines to the stage are fantastic—there’s not a bad seat in the house!

The staff at the Lunt-Fontanne deserve a round of applause themselves. They are incredibly welcoming, courteous, and efficient, ensuring that guests have a seamless experience from the moment they enter. From the ticket takers to the ushers, everyone exudes that warm Broadway hospitality, which adds to the excitement and energy of the evening.

As for the acoustics, they are second to none. The sound quality is crisp and clear, which makes every note, line, and musical number resonate beautifully. The lighting and staging are always spectacularly done, with the theater providing the perfect canvas for Broadway’s most creative productions. It’s no wonder the Lunt-Fontanne attracts some of the most dazzling shows and performers in the industry.

During my visit, I had the pleasure of seeing [insert show name], and it was a breathtaking experience. The intimacy of the theater allowed me to feel completely immersed in the story and connected to the performers. You can tell that the productions hosted here are crafted with immense care and precision to match the theater’s high standards.

Another plus is the theater’s location. Nestled in the heart of the Theater District, it’s surrounded by great restaurants and landmarks, making it easy to plan an unforgettable night out. Whether you’re a seasoned theatergoer or visiting Broadway for the first time, the Lunt-Fontanne’s location makes it a convenient and exciting choice.

In summary, the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre is an absolute treasure and a must-visit for anyone who loves theater. Its blend of historical charm, modern amenities, and unbeatable ambiance makes it a standout among Broadway venues. I can’t wait to return and experience the magic all over again! If you’re looking for a night of unforgettable performances in a stunning setting, the Lunt-Fontanne will not disappoint. Five stars...

I visited this theater on 8/14/22, for the final 8pm Tina Turner Musical. This is not a review of the show but the theater. The theater itself is decent and provides a nice view regardless of where you sit due to its size and close seating; however, the close seating doesn't provide for much leg and arm room. Very tight, the person next to me could barely fit in the seat comfortably. I sat in orchestra Row V at the end and view was perfect. The ladies room was clean and I appreciate the staff recognizing the ratio of women to men and allowed the men's room to accommodate the woman during intermission while still allowing the men to also us the restroom. The woman used the stalls which is on a different side; however, the sinks are in between so you can see the men standing up to use the bathroom. That might be a problem for some but for a woman doing the potty dance you get in and out, a drink, and back to your seat before the intermission is over.

Cons: The bartenders were rude!!!! No one to complain too because I was told by another bartender that they are all rude including the manager so I had to take my complaint to the theater manager who had nothing to do with the bartenders. So that complaint probably went no where.

If there is a musical number on and your not in your seat they make you stand in the back until it's over.

The theater would have gotten a higher rating; however, the rude bartenders takes away from the experience. I see there are other reviews which also speaks about the attitude of the staff. My only hope is that it's...

Named in honor of America's foremost husband-wife acting couple, Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, my partner and I arrived at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre last night to see Sweeney Todd during Broadway week. We were here back in 2018 for the performance of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. About 45 minutes prior to the start of the show, the doors were opened, and the staff were outside directing patrons into entry lines, depending on the location of their seats. The staff will seat those on the mezzanine level first. However, due to the bitter cold winds, once those in the mezzanine went inside, the staff would then let those in the orchestra level inside to the mezzanine level to use the bathroom, stop at the bar or buy souvenirs, and wait until the inside theater doors were opened. Once inside, we were greeted by the staff, who scanned both of our tickets and then directed us to our seats. Several ushers inside were making sure that everyone got to their seats without issue. Since the stage is so high in the first 4 rows, these will have some view obstructions. It’s suggested to get seats beyond that, as we were in orchestra row K. The acoustics were perfect, especially to hear the live music from a classic 26-player orchestration and be able to see the stage without any obstructions. However, some seats were tight if you're tall and don’t leave room for each other. The performance was incredibly lively, and the atmosphere had just the right touch of spooky elements, adding to the overall charm of the show, which we can recommend.

Jut saw Sweeney Todd at this theatre, which was amazing. The seats were good - I had an aisle seat which provided an unblocked view to the stage. The crowd management at Lunt-Fontanne theatre was not as good as other theatres. The line was really long without personnel outside at the end of the line to help manage it and there was a patron with a cane and trouble walking in front of me and she shouldn’t have needed to be in such a long line. There is one stair case down to the bathrooms which makes the lines very long and hard to get in and out of during intermission. The theatre basement needs to be redesigned for better crowd movement and management. They did have someone working in the bathroom to help keep all us women moving - and that was appreciated- she did an excellent job! Of course, the show was worth all this - but I will probably only return to this theatre if it is a must see show - otherwise would prefer to go somewhere else that has the staff to better manage the crowds and a better flow around the restrooms - which are very important when you are there close to 3+ hours.

Just saw Sweeney Todd last week and it was jaw droppingly awesome. Mr Groban was on vacation, but his understudy Mr. Nicholas Christopher delivered! I have seen his work as George Washington in Hamilton and as John in Miss Saigon, so I can't say I was surprised at how good he was as Mr. Todd. Anyways, this is not a review of the musical but rather the theater itself. I usually do my due diligence in researching where the best seats are in a theater, and usually, the first few rows are great, that is, if you are willing to be in the splash zone. #iykyk Not so at the Lunt Fontanne as I discovered belatedly. The stage is so high that the first 4 rows, maybe even 5, will have obstructed views. Being on the 2nd row, i did not see what was happening at the end when the actors were all on the floor, and this was the denouement of the whole play. If you look at my picture with me holding the Playbill at eye level, the top of the orchetra pit is what you see. The cheaper price compared to that of seats 2 rows back should have clued me in. So be warned fair theater geek.
