Great place to buy 1/2 price tickets. For Broadway shows.. At times there's a long line, but they do have about 10 windows so they keep the lines moving fast. If its cold make sure you dress warm and right shoes. , remember times Square has a lot of pot holes and very crowded so u want to be comfortable in these lines. There are people all over to keep your eyes wondering. ( Its best to go to this line, in my opinion ) when it rains. Lss of a line. Hotter the day longer the lines. Maybe bring two people , so you all can take turns waiting in line. Do your homework on what shows you have in mind ,so when you get to the window you can just give you 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice if one available . Remember NY-ERS MOVE FAST.TBEY LIKE TO KEEP LINES MOVING. IF IT LOOKS LIKE UR NOT READY THEY MIGHT TELL U TO STEP ASIDE . THAT LINE HAS TO KEEP MOVING, SAY UR CHOICE ,PAY AND GET OUT THE WAY.. So don't start asking 100 questions at the windows. Also, if you have an 8 pm show. You should make ur dinner reservations for 2 hours prior to the show so that you don't have to rush. Again do your homework on which restaurant near you theater is available. Wednesday , Friday nights and Saturday , nights are the busiest nights for theaters. Restaurants also are extremely busy so plan ahead. Good place to eat near by is Carnegie Diner and Cafe . Manager there and employees very nice, clean place, GOOOD food. They are located on 50 st & 8th Ave. Ny NY. Very close to theaters. Do go there 2 hours before your show , so that you don't have to be rushing. Remember once you show starts if you late they don't let you in until there's a change of scene.... The usher will guide u in. Also they do check bags. Now if it's nice out and you feel like walking around after your theater show, bring flat shoes to do this. Our side walks have many small uneven places you can fall. I have seen many many women in their heels fall twist their ankles on it. It's not pretty. . For everyone that gave a heart , thank u I'm glad I was able to help out. But please remember wear comfortable shoes . Don't try to be cute and then u fall. I see it too much. Our streets and sidewalks are not too even at times. Places you can either get warm if it's cold out or use bathroom . McDonald's but u do have to buy something. Buy the cheapest thing , like a coffee. If you download the McDonald's app, you can use free wifi .Some things are cheaper . If u don't feel like spend any money just to use the bathroom . Also you can use the bathroom and stay warm I'm the M&M store walk around act like u wanna by something. They don't bother you . Bathrooms is upper level. Also there Port Authority bus station. 2nd level. If someone asks u do you need help? Say no. These people do not work for Port Authority , they just want to help but they expect money for them helping u . Just say No they leave you alone. As you walk in the biggest building next to Carlos Bakery next to 42 and 8th Ave that's the bus station. Walk through those glass doors and as u first walk in . Walk straight in front of you, you will see a glass booth. READ IT ON TOP SAYS " INFORMATION". Always someone in there only ask that person in that booth for what ever u want about anything in Port authority or BUSES. THEY DO NOT CHARGE . IF U ASK SOMEONE ELSE WALKING AROUND THEY DONT WORK THERE. REMEMBER THAT. OR FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS. WALK IN BUILDING GO UP ESCALATORS TO THE LEFT OF U. GO TO SECOND FLOOR WALK STRAIGHT THEN WHEN U CAN TURN LEFT ((IF U GO TOO FAR STRAIGHT U WILL SEE A STORE SO U CANT GO ANY FURTHER . AS SOON AS U MAKE THAT LEFT QUICK AS SHHHHH, THE BATHROOMS ARE RIGHT THERE . TOTALLY FREE. STAY THERE AS LONG AS U WANT. DO NOT LEAVE UR STUFF ALONE A LOT OF PEOPLE GO IN AND OUT IF THOSE BUILDINGS AND PROMISE U IT WILL GET TAKEN IN A HEART BEAT. HOLD ON TO EVERYTHING EVEN IN THE BATHROOM. NOT TRYING TO SCARE U. POLICE DO WALK AROUND. ( P. A. Is like the air ports extremely expensive do not buy stuff here. Go to 40 at Jacks. Shop there. Go to McDonald's ,...

Read moreI used to think TKTS was a nice, reliable option - a way to see a Broadway show without breaking the bank, albeit with limited choice. After my latest experience, I will be doing whatever I can to get Broadway tickets ahead of time, even if I have to spend more. They advertise their tickets as 40% - 50% off, which seems fair enough for a show that has hundreds of empty seats a few hours before the curtains go up. I've used TKTS a number of times in the past, and their price has always worked out to $70 - $80 per ticket, for Orchestra seating (lower level). My latest buy, however, the tickets to my show cost $113 per ticket for Mezzanine (balcony/upper level) seating. I thought that perhaps the show was just more expensive than previous shows I had seen, until I decided to compare it to future dates for the same show. Better tickets for the same week of shows were available at about the same price. The mezzanine tickets I had purchased were available at $30 less than what I had purchased.
It seems the convenient tradeoff of getting cheaper tickets to a smaller number of shows doesn't exist anymore. A show with seats to fill at the last minute shouldn't be charging more than their regular rates. It seems as though someone realized many people were choosing TKTS as their ticket option (like myself) and decided to take advantage of it and charge the same (or more!) as buying ahead of time...
