Marcus Garvey Pool — Attraction in New York

I went two days back to back first for the second session that was from 4pm -7pm and again for the morning session that was from 11am-3pm. Both sessions were fun due to the lack of life guards only one side of the pool was open and it was the 4 foot side which was not bad considering it was still a huge pool .... it was very clean and i appreciated that very much ... the reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because mid way through the second session they pulled everyone out the pool with no excuse to wait for 30 minutes which was wierd. that particular day was not that warm or hot outside so we kind of just sat there freezing for 30 minutes which felt like an hour. So the next time I went back I anticipated them taking us out for the 1st session and it never happened I bought a book and everything and It didn't happen so I'm still kind of...

The pool experience was fine. It was no different than any other pool in NYC. The water was clean and the lifeguards were always on full alert.

I had 2 issues with this place:

How disgusting the bathrooms, shower and locker room was. Some of the stalls in the bathroom didn't even have doors, which made it very uncomfortable to change clothes or do your business.

The pool didn't have enough seats to put your belongings on. We had to put our stuff on steps that weren't even clean.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this swimming pool just for the simple reasons that I stated. If you don't care or mind the personal reasons that I stated then feel free to go...

I went here today with my three kids. It’s our first time visiting this pool. I would give 5 stars just for the staff being so friendly/helpful and the pool/locker room area being so clean! I took two stars off because of the weirdos we encountered; I wouldn’t feel safe going here again, especially alone. I would also have to agree with one other reviewer about it not being too much for family/kids to play around because a lot of ppl do more laps than anything else and they do laps horizontally and vertically, and you have to keep watching your back or telling your kids to move so they can pass by at which point I felt uncomfortable and left.
