I would give this place zero stars if i could. I went to get my nails done on Monday 9/23 for a dip mani on my natural nails after learning the salon was offering 50% a nail service to new clients. I was really excited because I was referred to this place by a former nail tech but she wasnt sure if the person who she knew still worked here at this location. I went willingly mostly because the instagram page for this salon was really put together and the nail art looked great. I get to my appointment and the nail technician informed me the products she needed to apply dip to my nails werent available i.e the polish bottle thats used to bond the dip to my nails. Instead, she mixed together random products that i later learned was used for acrylic nails (see image 1). The application process was absolutely horrendous (see image 2) and everytime i asked questions the nail technician Jasmine had a horrible attitude saying things like āgirl ive been doing nails for a long time i know what im doingā which is very unprofessional. During my service, Jasmine also seemed bothered by the fact that I expressed hurt/pain when she cut my fingers using the cuticle cutter. Again, lacking professional and basic care/compassion for clients. I paid the service fee which came to $51 which i think is absolutely ridiculous for how the final product of my nails turned out (see image 3). I then followed up with the alleged store owner Kendra. I explained my experience and asked for a refund but her response was āi cant offer a refund because I didnt even make any money off your nail service since it was already discountedā which was red flag #1 and only highlights the fact that this salon owner only cares about money and not about the clientele. The owner Kendra then excused her Technicians behavior with āyou and Jasmine probably didnt vibeā insinuating thats probable cause and justification for why my nails turned out horribly. She offered for me to go back in to get the service fixed by another nail technician named Tatianna who did a good job cleaning up the mess that was made at my initial appointment (see image 4&5). Overall, the professionalism is absolutely not there and very disappointing i even spent money coming here and wont be back. I hope the store owner sees this review and views this as a learning opportunity and not a knock to their business. I really wanted to support this black owned business in the neighborhood but unfortunate circumstances such as this make it extremely daunting.
Update: later that same night on 9/24, i got two charge alerts from my bank showing this business tried to charge my card on file twice (see last two images) for the repair service that was free of charge by the store owner. When i left the salon, i didnt pay anything because the service was free of charge so im confused why someone from this business waited until 10:46pm to attempt to charge my card when there was no receipt or signature of mine provided. Stay away from this business.
Response to owners comment (plus proof yet again with photos): Hi Kendra, iāll gladly accept a FULL refund of $51 (please see bank statement from initial date of service 9/23). I have no reply to the other fabricated portion of your story. Theres proof in every photo i posted so I dont need to say much more. Good luck with your business and i hope you see this occurrence as a learning opportunity...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve had good experiences here in the past, hence why Iām still giving the salon a relatively decent rating, but I am deeply disappointed by the outcome of my most recent service here. Iāve been coming to Millennial Nails for every manicure (except one) that Iāve gotten for the past five years. It used to be well-staffed, I would walk in with my roommates and weād all get our nails done together. Now itās appointment only as far as Iām aware (Iāve seen nail techs turn away walk-ins) and itās been years since Iāve seen more than one nail tech working at a time.
That is why I did not hold it against my nail tech when my most recent appointment started over an hour late, itās not her fault that the salon is understaffed. I also did not show how upset I was when her E-File made a half-moon shaped dent in one of my nails. It was partly my fault anyway, I think I flinched or something, and ultimately she managed to shape my nails in a way that makes it hard to tell that I lost some length. But then after curing the gel base coat on my right hand, she said that the base coat had moved and drilled it off. I should have spoken up and said Iād rather have slightly wonky color placement than weak nails from two rounds of drilling in one day but I figured she knew what she was doing. Despite everything I still tipped in full and did not so much as ask for a discount on the service because even though it was a less than ideal experience, I did not want to be that client. It was the last appointment of the day and due to the understaffing issue I was sympathetic to the fact that my nail tech was likely just as tired as I was.
That was not quite three weeks ago. A little long, I know, but the typical gel manicure lasts 2-3 weeks and I didnāt have time to get them done this past weekend. The manicure itself has held up nicely, no chips or lifting whatsoever. But this evening while simply eating a bag of chips ā bear in mind the most strenuous thing Iāve done in days is take out my trash ā a nail on my right hand (the one that got the e-file twice in one service) broke beneath the quick. I have been growing my nails out over the past few months so I am devastated to lose progress, especially since it hurts.
I hope that Millennial Nail can make this right because I would like to continue supporting a local business. I donāt blame the nail tech for this as much as I blame the salon for understaffing which I suspect led to my nail tech being too tired to provide an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in for a soak off/gel manicure with a nail design. When I first booked the appointment, it said I would pay $65 for everything ($5 for soak off, $55 for the gel manicure + nail art, and the $5.33 tax). When I was doing the soak off, the nail polish wasnāt coming off and the nail tech started to get upset. Then, she started asking another nail tech how to remove gel polish when the soak off doesnāt work. I found that kind of weird because should you know another alternative? But, I ignored it and showed them the nail design I wanted. The entire time, the nail tech doing my nails was ON THE PHONE TALKING. She kept messing up and had to wipe off the design. I found that very unprofessional. Plus, you can tell some of the lines werenāt straight, so she had to completely start over. By the end of it, they charged 5 DOLLARS PER FINGER FOR THE DESIGN. Which I really donāt agree with. The nail art was simple and shouldnāt it be INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL BOOKING. When I booked, it said I would pay $65 for the gel manicure and nail art. BUT I ENDED UP PAYING $108 FOR THE ENTIRE GEL MANICURE. This price was outrageous for the mediocre job. Plus, the nail polish is really thin, so I can tell this manicure will start coming off in like 1-2 weeks (I just got it done yesterday and the nail polish is already coming off). I really wanted to support a Black business but I have received better service for LESS MONEY. And, they didnāt give good service when it comes to cutting the nails, filing, and doing the overall prep. If you want a good nail job, I think it really depends on the nail tech (because some designs on the Instagram page are simply phenomenal). But, you canāt choose a specific nail tech when you book, so thatās the downside. Overall, I wonāt be coming back. The prices are too high for what I got, which was...
