This library is huge! I haven’t been back since they renovated a few years ago. I love how they reinvented the indoor and outdoor space. Whenever I walk by, I see a lot of people sitting in front of the library in the many benches and sitting areas. There is an outdoor reading garden and roof area. The roof area requires someone with an ID to swipe the door open so I’m guessing it’s off limits. At first glance, the inside looks very spacious and with lots of windows-- it makes for a very bright and inviting space. Everything looks very clean and organized. But I actually find the layout of the building somewhat awkward. It feels very spacious but the reading and sitting areas are small. And most times it’s hard to find seats to read in. The building is three floors and bathrooms are in the lower level. The kids section is at the top floor. Again, even though the building is large, the kids section feels very small. In fact, they even require parents to leave their strollers outside in the hallway. My favorite section of the library is the second floor where they have huge floor to ceiling glass windows with a small sitting area that has great views of Broadway. The windows let in a lot of natural light and it’s a great area to sit and read or take pictures. It does get very hot here though when the sun streams in through the windows. They offer lots of activities and classes for children (toddler dancing, chess, music classes) and adults (ballroom dancing, ESL). A great library for the community.

staffs over there is irresponsible for me since i ask the reason why they took the tables and the chairs from the reading room, one of the staff member told me that there is no such thing as manager to whom i can talk and on that they said they can do nothing about this.. STRANGE...If they can't do anything about these kind of issues then whats the point of having staffs in library. Reading room in 2nd floor is the brightest place to study, so many of my study buddies likes to study there and i personally saw many people complaining about this too but today on the MARCH 25TH they packed all the tables and the chairs. i don't get the reason because library is the place for the people who study and read, if they don't keep the tables where would the person who is studying or reading will keep the books on???????????? They do keep tables and chairs for chess class which usually held on the 2nd floor reading room in the evening... for that they keep 5 big tables where as there will be only 4 or 5 people playing chess???????? WHATS THE POINT OF KEEPING ALL THAT TABLE FOR ONLY 4 OR 5 PEOPLE????? VERY STRANGE BUT ITS ALL FACT!

I WOULD LIKE TO WRITE THIS REVIEW BECAUSE RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN IN THIS ELMHURST LIBRARY TO STUDY FOR MY EXAM.. THE DAY WHEN I WAS THERE IN THE LIBRARY TO STUDY, HOPING IT WOULD BE QUIET OUT THERE BUT WHAT SHOOK ME WAS ONE OF THE LIBRARIAN WAS HANDLING A GROUP OF "SPANISH SPEAKING GROUP"... ONCE THEY WERE DONE WITH THE ORIENTATION OF THE LIBRARY THEY CAME TO SIT AND START MAKING VERY LOUD NOISE.. WHEN I PERSONALLY SAW AND HEAR THOSE VOICES. I WENT TO ONE OF THE LIBRARIAN ASKING HER TO TELL THEM TO TALK IN LOW VOICE BUT THE LIBRARIAN SAID SHE HAVE TO TALK TO THE MANAGER ABOUT THIS ISSUE..???? SERIOUSLY??? CAN'T U JUST ASK THEM TO STAY QUIET??? BUT I RESPECTED HER DECISION AND WAITED FOR A QUIET A LONG TIME, NO ONE CAME AND THEY WERE STILL MAKING NOISE. AT THE END OF THE DAY EVERY BODY WHO WERE STUDYING AND READING GOT ANNOYED AND LEFT. STAFF IN THE LIBRARY ARE FOR WHAT?? IF THEY CAN'T ASK SOMEONE TO STAY QUIET IN THE LIBRARY!!!!

It’s been 3 months, that my friend and I, used to study in reading room. Before there was 3 table in reading room now these days they put only 1 table. But today there is no able, so we went to asked staff and she said we need to talk to Ami.. But she was not in schedule, we complained to someone and he said there is no manager and setting of chair is not in their control. I was like what??? How come there is no manager to look for staff and others.then who will take those responsibilities to set or not or like any issues??? Library is made specially for public to study or to read books. So why they dnt like us to study and to read book in library?

Also housekeeper, they never clean room, what they does is that they just pick up garbage and also put trash from toilet bin to his portable bin. They never wash toilet instead they just spray chemical and act like they clean. There is no manager or supervisor to look after their staff. No hygiene..

On Monday they is Chess class suppose to be start from 4pm to 5pm but they start at 3:30pm to 5pm. Even chess class is finished still they are staying and talking so loud. Really disturbing to us. There is no rules and regulations and nones cares about that. Instead they are also after who is sleeping. Sleeping doesn’t makes big deal until and unless they are snoring or creating scene.I dnt understand why they start Chess class at 3:30pm?

Today my complaint is that why they took out table from reading room??? We would like to know the reason behind that. It looks like anything can happen in...
