We recently bought a small house and so my family went to JC Penneyat Queens mall to furnish our house. We needed everything and since we have been shopping at JC penny's for many years, we decided to look there first. So my dad wanted to buy mattress and since the mattress section said take a test by sitting, he sat down on one of the mattress, the person in charge of that section named Audrey started yelling at my dad and said he is not allowed to sit on the mattress. My dad immediately got up and said I am sorry and started apologizing. She however gave him an stink eye and kept yelling at him and was giving him an attitude. So we said whats the problem how can we not test the mattress when it says to test it out. She said that we need to put a paper sheet before we do that with an attitude. We said okay there is a nice way you could have said that. She kept staring at us and kept you can't sit there. So we just ignore her and walked to the side and started looking at a different section and she kept staring at us with an attitude with her hand on her hips. We talked to the manager. The manager was cool and nice and said he is going to talk to her and thats no way to talk to the customer. We appreciated that, I don't if he is really going to talk to her about it, but just the fact he acknowledged it was enough for us. The experience really made us all feel terrible and we went back home because we were not in the mood to shop anymore. I am really contemplating to cancel my JC Penneys card.

This is a great JCPenny location. The store seems very organized, clean, and friendly staff. The sales are great however I know for a fact that there are bigger sales at OTHER JCPenny locations at times and this store does not have those sales in place here as well. Not sure if this is due to management or due to something else just please be aware of this. Overall a positive shopping experience is to be expected at this location.

This is a great JCPenny location. The store seems very organized, clean, and friendly staff. The sales are great however I know for a fact that there are bigger sales at OTHER JCPenny locations at times and this store does not have those sales in place here as well. Not sure if this is due to management or due to something else just please be aware of this. Overall a positive shopping experience is to be expected at this location.

Last week I visited the jewelry department and had a disappointing experience. Let me start this review off by saying that I come from a sales background and fully understand the frustrations when you don’t make a sale. However, I was given poor customer service and it really bothered me. I came into the jewelry department with my husband and daughter expecting & very ready to purchase a wedding band. Right away an older woman was ready to help me, great. I was very honest with her on budget and explained that I needed to stay within this specific budget because my wedding is abroad & I’m also already married so I wasn’t being picky about other details. I just wanted a beautiful and affordable ring. She showed me one that was perfect and I loved it but it was $2000 more than what I wanted to spend, so I was confused since I gave her my budget. I tried to brush it off but I was slightly disappointed. Not only did this sales person continuously disrespect what I said by bringing me more expensive rings, but she also made comments that were unnecessary. She said things like ā€œwell why don’t you just spend a little more, the quality is betterā€ and ā€œyou don’t want that ring, it’s not as niceā€ that’s my choice if I think something is nice. I repeated again to her that the quality wasn’t of importance to me at this moment, I just needed something affordable. She then showed me 2 rings in budget, they were nice but at this point I was just uncomfortable and didn’t want to buy. My husband noticed I was visibly upset and I told him I changed my mind. I told the saleswoman that I would think about it and she said ā€œwow, that’s really sad. I spent all this time showing you rings and you don’t want to buy?ā€ My husband said ā€œshe doesn’t want to.ā€ And we walked away. I took my business to Macy’s and ordered a ring the same day with someone who wasn’t pushy and respected my budget. Bottom line here is that if I had the budget to buy the first ring I would’ve. I’m usually not a stickler for poor customer service but I was bothered by the constant upselling and I continuously repeated to her what I cannot afford. It became rude and careless. JCPenney is now an extremely greedy company. I used to love JCP and shop there w my family for its name recognition implying friendly customer service, easy to find items, variety of size and good prices. I’ve moved further from the store and now shop online. This is what happened to my order: I placed an online order and paid w PayPal, which usually sets the delivery address. However, JCP overrode PayPal and set the delivery address to an old address on file with them. I noticed it immediately after placing the order and within a minute went to cancel and restart another order. The screen said ā€œyou can cancel this order within 30 minutesā€ I clicked cancel and it said the order couldn’t be canceled and to call the number. I called the number. The representative surprisingly, could not cancel or edit the order 12 mins after I placed it. He said he’d ā€œcreate a caseā€ for the order and told me JCPenney would contact me within 3 days. I though, great! they’ll probably change the address and let me know - as other companies do, given how early it was caught. A week later, I receive an email saying my order was delivered (to an address I don’t live at). I called again and the representative had no explanation for why my ā€œcaseā€ wasn’t taken care of or responded to and said there’s nothing he could do. I asked about a refund arguing that JCPenney didn’t follow through with their part of the agreement and I did everything that I was asked to but all he said was that the money could not be refunded.

So, in short, even though I did everything that I was instructed to do, JCPenney did not honor their online cancelation policy, did not allow their own representatives to fix the problem they created and management did not follow through when the case was escalated. They sure have lost me, my family and close friends as customers. I patronized JCPenney because I associated their name with a positive reputation but their reputation is now the reason I will never buy at...

I came here yesterday to buy clothes for me and my family, and I left really appalled by the service I received. First of all, although there are signs stating directions to the fitting room, there is NO sign pointing out the exact physical location of the fitting room. Second, there is no personal in the fitting room to assist you like in other JcPenney stores so I was really lost trying to find an available changing room for 10 minutes. The checkout line was really long as usual and a lady tried to help us saying that there was another cashier without a line in the back. For personal business I did not move. Then the lady started to curse out calling us ignorants (writing it on a more decent way) because we would not move. When I got to the cashier, I was trying to be as fast as I could since again personal business called. The cashier offered me to sign up for a JcPenney card to get a discount (which I declined because it takes time, I needed to take care of my personal business, and it was getting late for me since I do not live near the area). Then the cashier stating asking me why I would not sign up and call me ignorant (again this is a more decent word) because I would not take a discount. Any side comments are of place. At the end, one’s decisions usually does not affect others in any way (in this environment). When I got to the train and checked the receipt, the cashier did not put a discount that they were giving to all customers regardless if they have a card or not!
